[QUOTE="MetroidPrimePwn"]Lol  True that. Haha nice. :PI liked it.
Presentation made no compromises in showing the suffering involved, and the performances were great enough to compliment it.
Ending was a little predictable, and the plot's been done before, but overall it was pretty good :P

You want to see it so you can see Jesus getting whipped and Crucified? :?
He's obviously not religous. :P Sounds pretty sick minded though.[QUOTE="Andrew_Xavier"]That's a "Student Newspaper" he's not even a real critic :? I lol'd.Here's a nice accurate review:

"So, if it's a largely plotless, horrendously violent film that takes glee in the suffering of its protagonist you're after, look no further thanThe Passion Of The Christ. It'sthe winner of the 'torture porn' genre."

[QUOTE="Xx_Hopeless_xX"] It wasn't "torture porn"as you so condescendingly phrase it..movies like "Saw" or "House of a Thousand Corpses" could be considered torture porn...this movie was accurately portraying the intense and brutal suffering Jesus went through throughout the Passion...which is why i believe is why it grossed so much...for this accurate portrayal..whereas a light hearted unrealistically portrayed cartoon would not appeal to Christians en masse..again to reiterate my previous point..it accurately portrayed the events before the Crucifixion in a realistic and moving fashion..
Xx_Hopeless_xX
again, i disagree. it looks like a torture porn film to me...
In what way?..Torture porn is generally fictional for one...and it is meant to gross out audiences and disturb them with massive amounts of gratuitous gore..whereas this movie was using the brutality to portray an event in history and emotionally move audiences with this portrayal..and this film..while bloody at times..had no explicit or overt gore that is usually associated with said "torture porn"..I would also like to know why you disagree..
Hopeless is right, "torture porn" is stuff like Saw and etc. This was displaying an event in history that I believe happened, if you don't that's fine but you obviously didn't even get the point of the movie.Loved it, thought it was hilarious when Jesus was crucified. I loled a bunch. HoolaHoopManThat's low dude.
Yeah there wasn't any gory in it really, but it was brutal.[QUOTE="NiteLights"]
[QUOTE="Xx_Hopeless_xX"]I don't really get what you're trying to say...the movie has no overt gore..it's more brutal then anything else..ganon92
The gore and brutality go hand in hand. I'm pretty sure in the part where Jesus is being whipped with the flagellum thing, chunks of his back are being ripped off. That's pretty gory, especially when it's prolonged and presented in detail.
Oh sorry, I forgot about that bit. It's not overly gory at all...it is brutal though..and i saw it because of the Crucifixion..as did my family and most of the people i know..so please don't generalize..[QUOTE="Xx_Hopeless_xX"][QUOTE="lazerface216"]
but that's why people went to see it. they didn't go for the story of jesus' crucifixion. they went for the gore.
lazerface216
everyone i know saw it for the blood and gore. do you honestly believe it would have as hyped or been as big of a box office success as it was without all the gore? puh-lease .that's all people talked about was how gruesome it was.
Well my parents and friends of the family (they're all Christians by the way, so am I) went to see it. I didn't see it in cinema's but when I saw all of them coming out everybody was crying except for my father. :PI can't see how a person can be so brutal though, I mean when the guys were finished with him they were out of breath. :?[QUOTE="NiteLights"]
[QUOTE="ferrari2001"] yep.. The Romans were masters of torture.. They would torture criminals almost to the point of death and then kill them by crucifixion or beheading. It probably would have been slightly more gruesome in real life than in the film though. VendettaRed07
They didnt know any better really... I mean back then it was normal for a roman man to have a little boy who he would teach how to hunt, and be a man etc. And at night the guy would.... You know....the little boy.. Now adays thats like the worst thing anyone can imagine but it wasnt back then its just what people did. People were just different back then. Their value of life was so much different back then than it is now
Yeah the world was a lot more, uncivilized back then.[QUOTE="Andrew_Xavier"][QUOTE="Xx_Hopeless_xX"]You're mad the movie didn't get protested..?..Really now..Xx_Hopeless_xXFar from it, it's a great argument to make when people are protesting any form of cinema violence. "THIS MOVIE IS EVIL!" "Sorry, you said passion was okay, therefore you have no claim."I don't really get what you're trying to say...the movie has no overt gore..it's more brutal then anything else.. Yeah there wasn't any gory in it really, but it was brutal.
Haha same, I can get pretty mad at some characters in movies sometimes but those Romans got me going.I liked the movie, but it was really sad and intensly gore.
Some parts made me want to get in their and kick some butt along side with Jesus.
Kick some Roman butt; yea i'm cool like that. 8)
Nice acting by all actors.
