That is there loss. Obviously if a console doesn't sell enough then games won't continue to be made in the long run, but the 360 has made up ground from the original xbox, so it has a few years left in it yet.

I already have about 10 games which i think are really good games, some which are great games. Judging by the potential of some of the games to come i could have 20/30, good or great games over the next year or two. Even if the consoles fades out in a year or two which i don't think it will, that is still enough games to justify owning it, for me personally. If somebody doesn't get one then they are missing out in my opinion.

For myself, I don't have a 360 - but that's because the games for that system, for the most part, don't interest me. I'm not into FPS's and racing sims, and even though the 360 has other genres covered, those two areas are the ones the 360 is known for most (mostly because of all the Halo hype). Perhaps if Rare get's there *insert bad word* in gear I'll reconsider (because they are a developer who's games I've ALWAYS loved) - at the moment though, they look like a shell of their former selves and so, I continue to sit on the sidelines...

It is already a fact that X360 is not accepted by the Japanese consumers which is significant enough for X360 not to get 1st place. However, PS3 isn't doing good as well and it is not helping them in sales against X360. X360 has the largest potential market which is the USA except Canada (They are apparently becoming a WiiLand). However, USA is not enough towin the console wars.

See, the difference between the 360 and PS3 in Japan is that the PS3 has 'potential' over there...    ...the 360 is a lost cause in Japan.

There's a reason why MS was so determined to crack that market. And all the fanboys in this forum can scream 'JAPAN DOESN'T MATTER' at the top of their lungs, but in the big picture, it matters alot. MS knows this, and it's time for some of the MS fanboys to wake up to reality...    ...without Japan, you cannot win any console war.

Maybe it will finish in 3rd spot but it is still a very good console, with some great games. If you fail to play most of these because your a fanboy, then quite frankly your an idiot.

It doesn't matter how many they sell or the position they have been judged to be in. As a gamer you should want to play the best games out, whatever system they are on.

You know, and don't take this the wrong way cause I'm really not making correlations here, but I remember saying almost these same exact words when the Dreamcast was out. It was a great console with some great games and anybody that called themselves a gamer should have bought one...    ...unfortunately, they didn't. :(

Again - I'm not saying the 360 is the next Dreamcast, it's already been far more successful than that console was...   ...it's just ironic to see my same thoughts recirculating some 7 years later...

Who cares? Gamecube finished in last place last gen, and I loved the system.  360 still has the games I want to play.  First, Second or Third...does not matter to me.  Play the games you like and don't worry about system sales.  All three systems will have enough systems sold to keep the games coming so you're thread is useless.   Why does system wars have to be about sales, shouldn't it be about games? When you have a good argument about games, come back.

I agree - I loved my GCN and have no complaints with the system...    ...that goes without saying.

System Wars doesn't have to be about anything. This thread just happens to be about sales - they have no merit to you, and that's ok, too...

Although I hate the backstabbing lemmings the most in this system wars, I disagree with the post that X360 will go 3rd place. PS3 is more likely than X360 to go 3rd place simple because of the reality of the $600 price tag not including any game and HDMI cable. However, I believe X360 will not be the market leader because it has not yet dominate Europe and not accepted in Japan. Nevertheless, X360 is more than likely to get 2nd place than PS3.Zaistev_basic

Good point - the only problem is that the PS3 will not be $600 forever. Will it be reduced in time to save itself? That's a good question...

...the reality is - the 360 is on pace to do about as well as the XBox did - 25 million. If the PS3 does an equal (or better) amount than the GCN in both the US and Europe (highly likely), and does at least average in Japan (also, highly likely), then there is no way the 360 can finish in second place - it's just that simple.

 ...meanwhile, the Wii is on it's own planet.  ;)
