Microsoft u-turns. If what Patrick Klepek is reporting is true, goodness that's going to make the next-gen war fascinating. Also, I have no idea how Microsoft spin this. How can you spin a u-turn like that?

Sources indicate Microsoft is going to move away from what's caused the company so much headache.
The tug-of-war between Microsoft and Sony just got more interesting. Multiple sources inform me Microsoft will announce what amounts to a complete reversal on its DRM policies for Xbox One today.
What does this mean?
- No more always online requirement
- The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
- All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
- An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
- All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
- No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
- Region locks have been dropped
It is unclear what caused this huge change in policy right after E3, a week where Microsoft executives spent days explaining, justifying, and talking about its policies to the press. I suspect Microsofts official announcement will say something to the effect of we've been closely listening to consumer feedback.
Based on what Im being told, thats definitely true.
I've reached out to Microsoft for comment.
Microsoft has taken an enormous amount of heat regarding DRM policies with its new console. Sony became consumer heroes at E3, announcing PlayStation 4 would not treat used games differently, and the status quo would reign. The company released this video, twisting the knife:

Of course, Xbox One is still $499 and PlayStation 4 is still $399. But today moves the needle.

Hmmm a MS employee telling us how their product is better for us? Â Who would have guessed?
I think none of you will be bitching once all games on X1 are as cheap as 39.99 while PS4 games are up to $70. i promise you that will never happenXbox live has always been a better service then psn offering more features and faster updates. Much better ecosystem, like it or not. Krazymixturepretty wrong actually. PS+ has made PSN a much better service

also, bad thread made by a 14 year old. let's move along
i think it's crazy fun with friends. by yourself i can see how boring it would be thoughTo be honest, I've had Planetside 2 on PC for a while. Had it during the early beta days before it was up for grabs on Steam, and the truth is that it's really not all that great. It gets boring pretty quick. Perhaps if you jump in with 5+ of your close friends, it can be fun, but from the time I spent on it, its just something I would turn on for 5 minutes while waiting for my g/f to get dressed so we can go out. Not something that I would allocate real time to. But im glad its coming to PS4 so other people can try it too
