@espoac: How cracked are you that you cannot divorce the world depicted in a piece of fiction from being a supposed expression of how the people creating the fiction view others? The game is supposed to be a corrupt dystopia, the mega corporations have way too much power and are using and abusing every person and thing they come across... but 'muh representation.'
The community have been saying for years that they wanted a vanilla WoW to play. They went to unofficial sources to experience it and put up with being razzed by the arrogant twats at Blizzard that told them "you don't want that"... Do you think maybe you can put away the speculative "do they really want it" nonsense? I know you have nothing else to say on the matter other than shit-talking fans since there's nothing else to report. So how about doing something more constructive than being a dickish journalist? Or is that all you can do with your power?
As a producer of goods or services, it is never your job to tell customers what they want or that you refuse to make/sell something because "you don't want that."
There is nothing wrong with refusing to produce something your consumers are asking for. You are not beholden to satisfy anyone, but don't pretend you are looking out for them by presuming to tell them what they want.
