CoD, yes well, you called out a specific opportunistic business tactic of finding a market and milking it. It's just a cash cow.
The console games you pulled out were awful examples. 3 Halo games and one expansion since 2001. 13 Final fantasies since 1987. MGS since 1998. DMC since 2001. And when it comes to mario, it depends if we are considering the main series. Now thats what I call milkage :roll:.
And as oppose to what? WoW, HF, Doom, Quake, CoD (started on PC, and you can have it too since PC gamers contribute), C&C, Civilisation and the list goes on.
Don't act like CoD doesn't sell extremely well on the PC, whether you like it or not, those gamers contribute to that cash cows expansion.
But it's not like those indie games sell that well on the PC either, but the PC hosts them because they have development freedom, so I guess thats half a point.
The PC maybe where the idea for Halo began, but since it's release it has been a console specic title in game design, but here's a thing people don't get here. EVERYTHING YOU mentioned apart for CoD is console specific gaming, you don't get these on the PC because the audience is different. It's not console gaming I like it's console games.
PC games are not the same, the only thing they have in common is that they can be both categorised as games, it's like apple and oranges. A PC FPS is usually completely different from console FPS in design for example.
Consoles have broken away from PCs, the dinosaur view that the PC is still the center is the joke, the PC is not the center, it's different. All those games you mentioned would never have existed if consoles didn't exist. You need to respect both sides of the coin.
The hate goes both ways. The way PC gamers look down on and dismiss consoles also leaves a lot to be desired.
And What about programing innovation on consoles. Talk about making two dollers out of 50 cents, look at the kind of games developers have managed to push out of the 360s specs. Or the Mario Galaxy games from the Wii, while still keeping the controls simple, with such varied gameplay.
If you look past the cash cows there are many amazing games on consoles as well.
Also, "all we've gotten from consoles is match making and regenerating health", you are exactly the same sort of person on the opposite side of the coin, of who you are aiming this at. Now that's insulting, Nintendo on their own rival the PC for innovation in both hardware (in terms of controls and interactivity) and software. No one constantly innovates controls like them, like it or not, only a handful of other people in the entire industry has introduced as many new ideas as them.
The reason I lose faith in SWs is because there is this absurd idea that any single platform is best, there is no such thing, it's whatever is best for the individual.
I'm a console gamer, but I respect the gamers of other platforms.
I get you're frustrated with the hate the PC gets, but aim your backlash better.

The main difference is that PC gaming has done A LOT for console gaming. Console gaming has really done nothing for PC gaming.
