You are gonna need the Microsoft VGA cables:

plug the red and white audio cables into the adapter and the adapter into your monitor, that should fix the problem.

*as a side note i suggest a widescreen monitor and a small speaker system if you can save the cash, you would be supprised how much of a difference widescreen and even a cheap sound system can make.
