Well I have a job and i don't want to spend a lot of money on my computer. If i did want to make the jump to core 2 duo i would need a new mobo for sure? My computer is from 2006, an eMachines T3508 with a celeron D processor running at 3.3 ghz, 2 gig of ddr ram, and an XFX 8600 GT XXX. I believe the only weak point that is cheap enough to fix is the processor.

Alright i know this is a stupid question but here I go anyways. If there is a Pentium 4 running at 3.5 ghz and a core 2 duo running at 2.8 ghz can the core 2 duo still run games that require faster clocks? Thanks for any answers in advance.

I assume your system is decent, so you should get G.R.A.W 2 its a great game, i don't know why it got such a low score.
