Big Rigs: The Prologue

It was in a bleek winte...two desperate American businessman and small time game developer was finding a way to get inspiration...spontaneously, they thought of acquiring several Russian friends to help them. And so they arrived from Vladivostok and Kremlin to the Americans' hometown. One of them, seeing that they only have $30000 to spare, decided to start a company. So, they spend $15000, half of their money, to build a small office building for developing games. Several weeks later, it was done. Now they needed to decide what to do...What To Do? Their minds went blank. They were becoming absent minded. No ideas seems to traffic into their imagination. One of them started to meditate instead, to get some spiritual guidance. Suddenly, the person dreamed of Nirvana...of candy, imagination, knowledge, wisdom, philosophy, and unacheviable happiness...could it be? A man materialized from thin air...he told the meditator: "You, are some of the few WINNERS to be in this place. Let me tell you something, you, will make a game, that will be WINNER. It will have trucks and 4 levels. That's all, young one, have patience, and I am gone. Call me Stell...Lord Stell."

"WAIT COME BACK" The meditator suddenly woke up. He told his buddies he was talking to an otherworldly man who called him Lord Stell, and that he said they will make a truck racing game. No one believed him, but the manager decided to give it a try anyway. So, he invested the rest of his $15000 dollars to develope this game...and something happened...something very WINNER. The game, along with the help of a publisher named Gamemill, went into sale. It introduced WINNER to the whole world. And there was a new light for the people who played the game-Rigism.

DPRK's nuclear test

Another Cold War maybe? Who knows. I just thinks that the media is freaking the citizens of the countries that are opposed to the nuclear test. Maybe, there's a possibility, that after all, everyone will get a nuke on but no warhead will be used against another country. Then again, who wouldn't want to throw a nuke and see it explodes.

Hehe, let the time roll, we'll look into DPRK's future...

PS. In case you didn't know, DPRK=Democratic People's Republic of Korea=North Korea

PS-2. Imagine NK really gets on their nerve in Crysis and nukes the alien spaceship. Though, that woul ruin the game.

some realism elements that can be used in a 1st person shooter video game

An arcadey shooter will probably have a single person driving a tank, that suddenly zips and crushes through a flank of enemy troopers. The person then gets off the tank, runs straightfoward into the enemy base with guns and rockets blazing. The person clears a battlion of people with a grenade and continue to run in. The person then deactivates all control panel, plants the bomb on the target, runs away, and watches in a distant as a glorious explosion flattens the enemy base. the person's buddies congragulates him for his job well done, and the person soon gets extracted from a helicopter.

Ok, I'll leave a few words...about what happens if realism was added into a first person shooter yet does not mar its gameplay

(Note: some of these are focused on multiplayer games)

1-eliminate extra Head Up Displays and Crosshair

2-people does not glitch in and out of a drivable vehicle

3-5 man crew for a large gunship or tank

4-gun model in first person is rendered completely in real-time and in game, and moves around depending on what action is being done (e.g. a running soldier has his rifle holstered, rather than appearing on the lower left corner all the time)

5-people react to situations but is still workable (e.g. a tired soldier needs some rest but still can shoot his/her rifle)

6-realistic weapon physics (e.g. the need to crouch and aim in order to fire a rocket launcer, and make bullet drop for ammos. Some BIG RIGS physics would be welcome as it's WINNER!)

7-dead body stays in place and can not be revived

8-people don't just go around going Rambo. (e.g. a group of soldiers are requested by their officers to stay in a barricaded roof to provide covering fire for their vehicles below)

9-less draw distance, larger gameplay area (e.g. Operation Flashpoint)

10-if respawning, people respawn inside a solid base and buy/sell/get/research weapons and technologies. (Inspired by Power Struggle of the game Crysis)

11-no more than 30 kills in a regular round of game

...

This gun...

(This is entirely fictional, and this has nothing to do with my motives) Yes! 12 rounds of pure 9mm! This is divine! Give me  Winchester and Wesson. Pour the wine. Lit up the cig. THIS SI GOOD!...This is for you, my friend! IT DESTROYS!!! AHH I FEEL LIKE EMPTYING THIS AT YOU. DON'T KNOW WHY BUT IT FEELS RIGHT! TO HECK WITH THE SAFETY!!! I am gonna cock this gun right here...hey, you hear that, the sirens of the police? HUH PUNK! WELL, PEACE AIN'T GONNA DOMINATE THIS WORLD. HECK, IT AIN'T GONNA SAVE ME! Don't you get it, lad? It feels like the ultimate solution. No burning, no algebra, no rough draft, there isn't a need to read the resolution of it all. The answer to life is in my hand? Yes yes yes! It holds to power. The power of all things metaphysics, all that come and goes! This is the destroyer! Judgement Day shall be in my hands. Urgh, must control to pull trigger. The pain, the pain, the pain, the pain, the acid on the exposed scar. I have feelings...NO! I CAN FINISH MY BUSINESS RIGHT HERE! 9mm! 9mm! Silencer! SILENCE! GIVE ME A PEACE OF MIND! STOP THIS! ARGH, GOTHIC EMO DOPPELGANGER CONSCIENCE! TO HECK WITH THIS POOP! JESH, WHY AM I TALKING TO MY SELF? Like what's on the film yesterday, the hero blows the smoke from his barrel, left behind a couple of corpse. You like Columbine? Bowling for Columbine? You see, this world is full of population and hate and trouble and problem? Need a helper? Call to this gun, matey!!! HAHAHA! THIS IS A ROLLERCOASTER, YOU GOTTA LOVE IT!!!

(pulls trigger)

Machine Pistol Model, erh?

Anyway, over the past few days, I was bored and realized that I haven't done much creative 3d animation in a while. So I decided to make a machine pistol model from 3ds max. It's not complete, not very detailed, and there's absolutely no texture :D:D.

Note: It isn't suppose to represent Mac 10. It's just a cool looking (gun fu anyone?) model that I've been thinking and drawing on paper for a while.

PS: (You don't need to know this) Usually I do bland, by-the-book (I read books on animation, yes. They are usually biased and hard to understand in the later pages) 3d modelling. So this one looks more natural than my other 3d models.

Some thoughts on Bioshock

Well, previews of Bioshock (a game that's to be released)looks pretty sweet, and provides many social commentary. It portrays the atmosphere really well. You get a sense that you're staring at a 40's scene rather than several gunned down soldiers in a destroyed city. There doesn't to be anything extremely over the top (other than the multiple ways to manipulate objects); Bioshock just "delievers".

'Nuff said, I can't put my any more brain on it. I've only read Bioshock's news for several days. Hopefully it will be an artsy game.

Innotive Games

I've looked up Gamespot for these games:

System Shock 2

Battlezone

Half Life

Perimeter

Darwinia

What do these games all have in common? Innovation. Nowdays most top-notch games must have explosive graphics and exciting battles. But for these "art" games, its a different story. They convey feelings and a distinct gameplay over over-the-roof experiences (which has now became a forced standard). It actually seems pretty sorrow that these games are forgotten and overrun by time. I wish that when I gets to run my little indepedent company (in the future, of course), which I dreamed about, then I'll light-heartedly ask and cooperate with my employees to make a budget, and nostalogia game like the ones above.

*caps*PREPARE FOR DOMINATION

The writer was bored so he/she decided to write this.

Around this time (month)...three WWII video games came out. They are called: Company of Heroes, Faces of War, and Silent Heroes.

Basically, Company of Heroes will powerplay the other two titles, because it is the most attractive games posted on most big gaming Websites (not to mention its over-the-roof graphics, which is a cunning incentive). Talking 'bout Faces of War? So so, not a lot of front-page report on Gamespot, ok gameplay (from the players' reviews on Gamespot), and the writer hasn't seen anyone talking about it much...Silent Heroes, hmm interesting. The writer hasn't played it but knows it was a sequel to a 2004 video game called Soldiers: Heroes of WWII or something like that. It didn't sell very well despite good graphics and good gameplay...(tsk, tsk)well, here we are, its sequel. Silent Heroes was released earlier this month, with little reports, and from the writer's knowledge, didn't sell well either. Looks like it will probably suffer the same fate as its predeccessor.

But whatever, the writer thinks that Company of Heroes will powerhouse these redundant WWII video games mainly because it appeared at E3, won awards, incoroporated some better-than-them gameplay, and a fearsome game engine. Also, it will take its crown because there's lots of media support for it. Had there been more media support for its recent counterparts, then these counterparts could improve their sell a bit. Company of Heroes...PREPARE FOR DOMINATION!

(note: the writer does not wish everything to be biased toward Company of Heroes)

monsters and overclocking

Lol,  over the period of this week, every gaming site that I go has horror games as headline in them (there was an old Gamespot article, some horror games that I found through searchbox, and a scaryness poll). And also, I've been thinking about making my own horror game (even before this week). Looks like I need to watch more horror film since now that I am having these karmas and that I am not really into horror films.

For my own study:  http://www.gamespot.com/features/6155292/p-2.html
