All the money being spent on these cringey, hamfisted PSAs could have gone to research, manufacture, and distribution of vaccines or other covid treatments. You're not winning any skeptics over with this cheesy, DARE program style crap. Quit wasting money on it.
Whether it was a good idea or bad why wouldn't someone on the Disney side say it was a mistake? It would only be newsworthy if one of the Sony Pictures figureheads said the decision was a terrible blunder or if one of the major MCU developers claimed Sony made the right call.
Given all the mountains made of molehills in the recent years its hard to trust the motives of these employees. Was it similar to the rumor about NRS that their upper management has been giving the female employees vulgar pet names? Then yes, take a stand. But if its just a "Riot ain't hiring as many women/minorities as we'd like" type endeavor then I have no sympathy. Equality of opportunity will always produce better results than equality of outcome.
Now if there is true sexism going on a class-action lawsuit would be a far better approach than a walkout management won't even remember a week later. That they are doing walkout instead of taking legal action is one of the reasons I have my doubts about their motives.
Funny, my love of fanservice has been helping me dodge a lot of bullets in the AAA gaming roster recently. Seems like whenever a company goes woke they also start tend to go off the deep end in anti-consumer practices like this as well. I'm not implying the wokeness causes them to get greedy, instead that both issues tend to be a bi-product of producers becoming arrogant and detached.
Surprised this article wasn't about Bautista. You know he's got to be dancing in the streets. As a Youtuber described him he reacted to Gunn's firing like "the kind of true friend that keeps an extra large trunk on hand just in case you ever need help disposing of a body".
Being they obviously were looking to make a new character with no real relation to the original Kick-Ass other than being a vigilante in the same universe wouldn't it have made more since to just make a spin-off title called "Patience"? Heck its even got a bit of a catchy ring to it and they could completely flesh out the character without feeling any need to tether her to Kick-Ass in regards to costume, fighting style, missions, etc.
I don't know it just feels like if Luke Cage had been created these days the creators would have shoe-horned him into the new Green Arrow rather than letting him just be his own person, Luke Cage.
The gaming industry should have games that cater to specialized audiences to go along with more mainstream titles. Such is the case with Cuphead, which is directly marketed to appeal to the hardcore platform shooter crowd.
If all game developer were to prioritize making their game as accessible and appealing to as many people as possible the gaming scene would start to become bland and souless. Its one of the reasons a lot of the AAA developers are falling into decline. In trying to appease everyone to maximize profit they have gotten safe and stale.
