On point call, for sure, GTA III really is one of the most influential games of all time.

Fighting With My Family was such a great movie, highly recommended, especially if you have even a passing interest in Professional Wrestling. Hell, my wife has NO interest and still loved the movie for the charm and laughs.

@ecs33: No joke, I'd argue GTA III, while dated and a little rough to play nowadays, is easily up there in the pantheon of most influential games of all time.

@Daelusca: "Everything Bioware has done"...ouch, I wouldn't use that...they've been a symbol of what NOT to do as of late.

@Daelusca: With all due respect, the guy literally quoted the developer of the Witcher claiming Dark Souls was an influence. It doesn't matter what your interpretation or opinion of the quote is, or whether you think his vision carried into the final game or not, as you didn't make the game. You asked for influence and they gave you literal proof, using one of the most critically acclaimed series of this generation. You can argue other points, and you may be right at times, sure, but on that particular one, if you keep arguing it, you're just doing so to cause trouble, not to make a serious point.

As for more influence, God of War. Director Cory Barlog cited Dark Souls as an influence on the slower, deliberate combat, saying, "We don’t want to just mimic Dark Souls, as much as we like that game. There is kind of this interesting loop inside of it that we wanted to capture." Anyone who has played both games should easily see the influence, and the Director even said as much, and if you debate God of War's success, then you're trolling.

Sekiro, is obviously also inspired, and that game is running with massive success, and influential enough in and of itself that the entire industry is still chattering about revisiting what they consider optimal difficulty and accessibility.

@asultana121x: "Tried and true MAN"? Dude, you're being defensive and dramatic over a video-game review. Confident men shouldn't get offended by someone's opinion, so I'd suggest contemplating the irony that you are doing just that and consider putting your energy into something healthier, because if you are trying to combat what I'm assuming you are considering a "SJW agenda" with a comment about the lack of your perceived social justice...then...well, I shouldn't have to spell it out the hypocrisy for you...

I see a review of a mediocre game and people complaining about Sony this, Microsoft that, liberal/conservative nonsense, getting offended, getting offended BY getting offended, reading too much into a review and all I keep thinking is...

...all the more reason to just keep on playing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

I enjoyed this game enough, might be worth a revisit. Definitely has a "feel" to it that makes it stand apart from other MMO's, but to be honest, it's hard to make time for MMO's with so many great single player games constantly dropping in the past few years.

@jumalan75: Thanks for understanding, and glad you were finding ways to have fun with it, which is the point of games after all. I'm hopeful they turn it around a bit, because the bones of the game show promise. In the meantime, and I don't know what kind of games you enjoy, but if you like any of the classic turn based jrpgs like Chrono Trigger or older Final Fantasy, I'd recommend Another Eden, a game that is full of content and refreshingly devoid of just about any of these paywall offenses. No energy system or loot boxes means you can play as often as you want. Great story that runs through to completion and an amazing soundtrack (both from the creators of Chrono Trigger), and only the mildest of micro-transactions, but having played through until the end, they really are 100% truly optional, since you get the currency constantly for free, and they are only to pull characters, though the game has several free story characters that are perfectly fine. Might not be your type of game, if you aren't necessarily into the turn-based, anime-style kind of games, which would be fair, but like I said, it's a refreshing experience that I've had a great time with.

@jumalan75: Great question, and I appreciate it. Pardon my rambling, I'm not a hater for the sake of hating, I have some logic and thought behind my complaints, and any frustration isn't aimed at you. For me, in a world where there are countless other games that don't have an energy system, that don't have time limits or wait timers, or that are hoping for a fleshed out PvP system that is meant to be competitive, any time you have to stop what you are doing, or that prevents you from maximizing your time and efficiency is a paywall. The older I get, the more I realize that not just my money is worth something, but my TIME is worth something, and halting my progress as a business model is a not just a paywall on my wallet, but on my time as well. Sure, you can poke at the game here and there, casually opening chests and questing, but the best stuff is sitting right there in those chests you can't open yet, gear and mats you earned by spending your time. Also, once that PvP enters, and they throw in rewards for high performers that get there through money, not skill, people will be thinking, "crap, I guess needed to open those chests and manage my resources/time better back then, because now I can't place in the bracket, and now I can't get the rewards for my time." That's a paywall, to me, too.

The biggest offender is that, in the end, to get any amount of real progress by the time you hit the higher player and town levels, is that to stay current and competitive, you are officially spending more money on this game than the full versions of any of the classic FULL RPGs in the Elder Scrolls Series. You don't have to, sure, but if you don't, you are now spending more TIME on this game than any of the classic RPGs, for a weaker game, even if it is mobile...and the game is going to rub it in your face the entire time.
