I didn't say PC lacks the features, I said that PC meaning that particular PC lacks some of PS3's features. This isn't a thread about whats needed for PC gaming, its a thread comparing PC to PS3 and cost effectiveness.

Now thank god those features aren't needed but once you tack on built in wifi, blutooth and blu ray the price will go well beyond $549. That is the only reason why I pointed that out I'm not saying they are NEEDED. Geez.3, to reply to the topic creator. Nothing more or less.

AdrianWerner

Well to be honest to use those those PS3 features you need expensive HDTV, while on PC a cheap monitor will deliver full HD experience. add prices of those and even witjh wi fi, blutooth and blue ray PC will be cheaper

I mentioned 3 features... Blu tooth, built in wifi and blu ray.

Only one feature benefits from a HDTV. Or Monitor w/ HDMI.

Also don't forget that PS3 works with monitors, atleast ones with HDMI. I have a 1080p monitor from Westinghouse that I use for my PC and PS3. It cost me $400. It was replaced by a newer model for $450, its on newegg.com

Oh and to knock off the HDMI price thing.. you can get HDMI cables from monoprice or newegg for about 5-10 dollars.

And btw, I've done my research and I own a gaming PC and a PS3.

There are also HDMI to DVI converters, which can be used for cheaper 720p monitors.

So wait, you've done your research and despite putting silly artifical requirements just to bump PC price up you still ended up with PC that's only a bit more expensive than PS3? Wow, for all the talk about PCgaming costs one would expect gaming PC to be a lot more expensive

Wth? Silly "artifical" requirements? What requirements did I mention. You're a silly one lol.

There are a few things required for a gaming a PC, RAM, a case (kinda), a motherboard that supports the parts you choose, a modern video card, a powersupply that supports your mobo and video card, a cpu, a hardrive, a keyboard and mouse, an disc drive, and well I left the price of an OS out because you can easily pirate them..

What silly "artifical" requirements did I mention? You are just trying to hold an argument after I've already trumped yours.

You are the silly one who is anti-PS3 and adding silly requirements like a HDTV, when PS3 easily works with monitors.

I didn't add any requirements, I simply said "This particular PC lacks blu ray, blutooth and wifi". Not in anyway did I say those features are required, and they are certainly not required for PC gaming. Will you read? I mean geez, you act like I mocked up a PC tacked on wireless, blutooth and blu ray and said "OMG YOU NEED THESE". Geez man.

I'm a PS3 and PC enthusiast, so just stop.

And PC gaming isn't as expensive as console fanboys make it out to be, which is exactly why I replied to the topic creator.

One last thing. You mentioned I ended up with a PC slightly more expensive than a PS3. Well duh.. I meant to do that.

I've done my research as I said, PC gaming isn't as expensive as console fanboys make it out to be, and with Steam it isn't even close to dead.

While the PS3 is a nice gaming + multimedia option, that is slightly less expensive than the PC I mocked up.

Why compare both and hate when you can have both, STILL compare and enjoy. They both have their perks.

Belive it or not but this PC is slightly more powerful than a PS3 at $549.90. When I bought my 80GB PS3 it cost me $546 after tax. Newegg won't tax you I believe, but you do have shipping. Which brings you to $593.64 for 3-day UPS.

https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=6855925&WishListTitle=Budget

Though games like Oblivion, COD4, UT3 and Team Fortress 2 would run better on this PC than PS3... It lacks many features of PS3, like Blu Ray, built in wifi, blu tooth, and a media card reader.

Another con is that PC exclusives like Crysis, would murder this computer.

No I'm not saying this thing is as cost effect as PS3, just decided to kill 30 mins looking up a budget priced gaming PC.

Bebi_vegeta

PC don't lack any of theses features... you just chose what you need for a PC.

Blu ray, not needed for gaming, hd movie can be downloaded.

wifi/blu tooth also useless if your router or modem is not wifi.

media also useless if your not going to use it ( monitor now have integrated card readers)

Crysis would be a probleme, just need to spend extra 150$-200 to be playable high 720p

But yes, all you would need to do is spend an extra 150 or 200 to run Crysis, which again puts it well beyond $549.

Again my post is replaying to a thread about PC vs PS3 and the tc mentioned cost effectiveness.

My goal was to mock up the cheapest PC that is as powerful (in this case its slightly more powerful) than a PS3, to reply to the topic creator. Nothing more or less.

Are you going to add games in the story of cost effectiveness? I mean the big whole point in geting a PS3 is for games no? Where am i geting at? Cheaper games for PC... there's really alot of points your missing if your just comparing machine to machine.

What are you talking about?

Games? My friend I'm only replying to topic and staying on topic while I'm at it.

No duh PC games are cheaper. This is a thread about machine vs machine the price of PC and PS3 games is another topic.

Throughout time the cheaper games makes up for the price of making a gaming rig (it's why I'm into PC gaming...), I will certainly give you that. But again this is another topic.

You really don't need a 550w psu for an 8600gt. The standard psu would of been fine.

Standard by what means?

Though you are right 550 isn't needed for 8600GT. I choose a 550 due to the fact that you can upgrade this comp beyond an 8600 GT. Nothing wrong with leaving room for upgrades, but yes there are cheaper options for a 8600GT user.

Why do Gamespot and console users keep comparing console games to Crysis?

The only thing that comes close overall is Uncharted. As for MGS only the charecter models match Crysis..

But even with Uncharted nearly coming close... Crysis is much larger, and the Ultra High setting for Crysis isn't even released yet... While Very High settings spank any and every console game.

So just stop.

Actually, there is a game that breaks that.

GTA.

GTA's main charecters are not hot or anything like that, infact they look average (save for bulking up CJ). I'm straight but there is indeed a difference between Niko Belic and The Prince of Persia or Dante/Nero.
