[QUOTE="AgentVX"]

PC owns Oblivion, there is no questions asked about that.  The real question is do you have a good enough PC to play Oblivion in all it's glory.

If you don't, then the 360 version is better for people who don't have a high or high/mid end PC.

avenger_dot

No, the REAL question is, could 360 handle the game with those mods on ?? Most definatly is the answer

Don't be so flipping stupid.  If the 360 could have handled that level of graphics it would have looked like that in the first place, yes?

Care to give one sensible reason why it wouldn't?

Care to explain why the 360's already VERY shakey framerate could have handled the VASTLEY superior graphics of the PC version?

Lets try using a little sense shall we.

[QUOTE="Velocitas8"][QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]Gamespot reviews "The high end PC version is clearly better". Problem solved.MasterChief1013

The PC version also completely blows the console versions away with LoD texture mods, face texture resolution improvements, the natural environments mod, water improvment mods, land and city retexture projects, open citiy mods, the list goes on and on.

coming from me, someone who's spent a total of 250+ hours on Oblivion, (PC and X360 version), i say the difference is minimal, it all comes down to which system you own, or if you're into modding or modifying the game.

The difference is minimal without mods.  With the right mods the difference is ASTRONOMICAL.

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhall is a must for the gameplay.  And pretty much everything by Qarl is a must for the graphics.

[QUOTE="Hewkii"][QUOTE="lawsonboy"]My 65" TV can be viewed from the comfort of my couch.lawsonboy
that wasn't the question.

You can get a 65" 1080i HDTV for less than $1000 now brand new and about $700 used.

$1000 HDTV    >>>>>$1400 PC
$400 360

And...

$1400 PC + $1000 HDTV >>>>> $400 X360 + $1000 HDTV + $400 PC + $40/year online subscription + $20 premium on each game.

"65" compared to what...20"?  Sorry son, but size matters!"

Actually, viweing distance matters just as much as size and since monitors are generally viewed from a much shorter distance because of a the vastly superior dot pitch, a 24" monitor can fill your field of view a hell of a lot more than a 60" TV from 4 times greater distance.

That version of Oblivion posted here is maybe 10-20% better graphically then the 360 version and the cost of the PC that is running it is easily >3 times the cost of the 360.
lawsonboy

Your blind.  10-20% is a complete joke.  Its clearly, far, FAR better.  Its impossible to quantify something like this but "twice" as good would be far more accurate than "10-20%".

And again.  Cheaper games, free online, "free high end PC"....

How does that factor into your cost calculations, hmmm?

Oh, and for the record, yes you can turn on your 360 from the couch but you can't put the games in the drive from the couch can you?  Nore do you keep your 360 controller within arm distance of the couch I expect.  The point is that yes, I have to get up to turn the game on at the PC if I want to play it on the PC but friend.... so do you.

Gamespot also says: Xbox 360 9.6> PC 9.3 Problem solved.

Exactly and the only real noticable difference to me is the slightly muddy textures from far away on the 360. That's not enough for me to say PC version is better.

Your totally blind if you can;t see the VASTLY superior graphics of the PC version. Massively more detailed distance textures, massively more detailed foreground textures and considerably more object detail in the background (rock, buildings etc...)

Hey Oblivion looks great to me on my 65" HDTV.  Who wants to spend 150 hours sitting at a computer desk so I can see a few extra trees in the background and the dirt looks more detailed?

And like I said, 360 costs $400.  What is the cost of the PC that those pics came from?  And what is the cost of the PC needed for the minimum system requirements which are pretty hefty?  Every game is going to look more detailed on a PC moniter from an expensive high end PC.

The question is is the difference in price worth the difference in game quality?  I say no.  The 360 version looks pretty great to me.

Yeah and I can hook up my PC to my 50 inch plasma too. Wippideedoo.

Playing PC on my couch is extremley uncomfortable. Plus it's a pain in the ass to do with practically no place for it.

Huh?  Explain how using the 360 controller plugged into a PC is "more uncomfortable" than using the 360 controller plugged into a 360 from the couch.

Can't?  Yes, thats what I thought.

Yeah Hermits always say that and how often do you ACTUALLY unhook your PC with all of the wires and carry it into the room where your plasma is?  Why would anybody do that?lawsonboy

Err, unlike consoles friend, PC's have dual outputs.  We can output through a TV AND monitor at the same time.  You know... that big feature of the PS3 that was hyped up but never made it.  Playing a game on my TV from the PC which is hooked up to the monitor is as easy as changing the channel.  Ooooohhh "teh compexiteez"

Because you have to pay a great deal more...appoximately 3X the cost of the 360 to get a version of Oblivion that might be 10-20% better graphically, it isn't worth it.

WRONG.

A PC has many more functions than a console.  Thus I compare the cost of my PC to the cost of your console AND your PC.  Factor in my free online, my considerably cheaper games (multiplied by how many you by over 4-5 years) and the fact that my PC is certainly much better than yours and the cost difference is insignificant, in fact it may even favour the high end PC.

Except the PC version can be played on a TV aswell using the 360 pad and the same controls as the 360 version if we so choose.  So point failed.

In fact the shot in the first post was taken while I played the game at 1280x768 on my own HDTV.

And like I said, 360 costs $400.  What is the cost of the PC that those pics came from?  And what is the cost of the PC needed for the minimum system requirements which are pretty hefty?  Every game is going to look more detailed on a PC moniter from an expensive high end PC.

What is the GAMING const of the PC that shot came from?  About £280 which was the cost of the GPU.  The rest is part of the cost for the PC which has many, many, MANY more functions than the 360.

The question is is the difference in price worth the difference in game quality?  I say no.  The 360 version looks pretty great to me.

No, the quetion is which looks better.  And the answer is the PC version.  I really don't care if your too poor to afford a good PC, thats not my problem, its your problem.

It may not be worth it "to you", but all that means is you lack the money for the better experience.  I don't, therefore I get the better experience.  Saying "its not worth it to me" won't change that one bit.

The PC is by the best. But with the patch, the 360's pic will def. look better.Tulak_Hord

If you believe that then your dellusional.  The PC graphics obliterate the 360, fictional patch or not.

Standards. Nuff said lemming.

Doesn't change the fact that PC version scored lower than 360 version.  'Nuff said...

Your arguement is extremely redundant. In that same review they state "The PC version is clearly better". -_-

No, what's redundant is PC graphics whores acting like their version is so much better just because there's some better textures & draw distances.  Big freaking deal.  All 3 versions have the same content & all 3 versions will get expansions/downloads etc.  The only way in which the PC version is better than the console version is mods.  But that in no way means that the game is bad or not worth owning on consoles.

The PC version IS much better.  Not only do the graohics completely pWn the 360 but the gameplay can be massively improved aswell, specifically the screwed up leveling system.

Oh, and did I mention load times?
