[QUOTE="Ownage_Delivery"][QUOTE="Shidira"] Most of it is faith Shidira

So then you're not a firm believer?

Nope, I am a firm believer, you're just using whatever words you want to convey whatever idea you want, though admittedly, I did word that wrong. I have full faith along with Biblical Scriptures.

Biblical scriptures are factual?

I'm curious to know why. What is it about that STORY that compels you to accept it, and all details surrounding that STORY, as fact?

Most of it is faith

So then you're not a firm believer?

[QUOTE="Siofen"] I'm a Christian and I think it's done more good, especailyl for people that don't have it good in their life, people suffering from disability, low-self esteem, bad circumstances, i mean for many of them, if there was no love in god, or no hope of heaven, what meaning is there in their existence? Why not just end it here and now? So I think theism, particularly Christianity gives people just a little tiny glimmer of hope.

Seems like religion would enable the further spiralling downward of one's self-esteem. To be told you are a sinner, no matter what, and you are not worthy of God's grace? You need hope? Play the lottery.

I don't believe a belief in a God is necessarily a bad thing. It's simply an answer to the unanswerable question. super_mario_128
If it's an unanswerable question (as of yet), there shouldn't be a bunch of theories parading around as truthful, final answers to that question. Of course that's a bad thing. It causes way too much distraction.

I am a theist. I can't speak for anyone else but I know that without my belief in God I would be a terrible person. It is not in my disposition to care about the pain of someone whose nerve endings are not attached directly to my brain, and with as a nihilistic atheist i wouldn't see any reason to change that view. But instead, I am a firm believer in a loving God and who has shone me, through love, that there is a better way to live my life. I still struggle with the little things, like offering to help someone with a small task, but when it comes down to big choices I am actually a very good person. So I don't know about anyone else, but theism has had a very positive and beneficial impact on my life.Acemaster27
Were you ever an atheist at one point? Or have you always been a theist?

It's not about the wars. The harm religion does comes from the vast numbers of minds it seals off from reality. All religions are cults. It turns people against each other, that would have otherwise felt neutrality (by default) towards one another. Religions encourage their followers to place all others beneath them in their own minds. This of course leads to the shameful battles that occur when people of different mindstates cross paths, and neither one wants to budge, or be the peacemaker, since they've been convinced by their leaders (and apparently their God too) that they are the ones in the right. And since pleasing thier imaginary superhero is something that people take seriously, the battles will continue until only one religion is left standing... or until they wipe out the entire planet. Religion is obviously causing lots of unnecessary friction on the planet Earth.

I don't approve of their lifestyle, but I don't look down on or discriminate them for it.

12Bullets
please explain to me what you mean by lifestyle. because for one, not all gays have butt sex 24/7, and not all gays are the flamboyant feminine type

the but wasnt meant for sexing

Neither was the mouth, but I bet you don't complain...
