Dragon Age origins was the most nostalgia driven mediocre RPG ever.... I cant beleive its success. Spiritual succesor to BG2 my ass, poor generic story , characters lore and theme. no D&D, multiplayer or anything ... it was just fkin boring from start to finish.

[QUOTE="SEANMCAD"]

you dont need to have a research paper to figure it out.

Just stop for a second and write down on a sheet of paper the things you can do for fun that cost LESS than $15 a month.

That is your homework assignment :)

Kickinurass

1) Biking through the countryNOT CONSUMOR ENTERTAINMENT

2) Amatuer photography/ video makingNOT CONSUMOR ENTERTAINMENT

3) House partiesJOKE? 2-3 DECENT DRINKS COST MORE... for 1 NIGHT.

4) Watching movie via Netflix or RedboxA good contender. similar concept.

5) Playing others that I buy less for less than $15 from either a used game store, Steam, or borrowed from a friendFar too conveniant and anecdotal, you can say the same about borrowing freinds mmo accounts therefore making it a POINTLESS statement.

6) Reading5-10 hour book, 8-12 dollars. unless you stole or borrowed the books for another conveniant arguement?

7) Chilling in the park (or downtown, I guess works too. Depends on if you include the cost of food)NOT CONSUMOR ENTERTAINMENT

8) ArtNOT CONSUMOR ENTERTAINMENT

9) Nerfgun/Water gun/Water balloon fightok ... i guess your 12, makes more sense now.

10) Rapping/Poetry/WritingNOT CONSUMOR ENTERTAINMENT

11) DrawingNOT CONSUMOR ENTERTAINMENT

12) BeachNOT CONSUMOR ENTERTAINMENT

13) Pretty much any sport (I'll include working out with this)Working out isnt cheap, unless your doing it wrong.

14) Volunteering somewhereNOT CONSUMOR ENTERTAINMENT

Hmm. I wanted to list 15... but I'm all out of things. Maybe if I think of something I'll add it. But yeah, plenty to do for cheap. mUch rather put that $15 to anything above (or a haircut)

Missing the point really arnt you. at least you comparable mediums.

Wow. So PC gamers don't want crappy software attached to a good game. I'm not seeing the problem here.

heretrix
Better stop using windows then, maybe mac is the anwser? .... crappy software... it barely gets envolved, barely does anything negative. its just the same as steam.

MMO's are WELL within that LOW price point

Kickinurass

Which is where you're wrong. Unless you can provide some proof that you speak for everyone in the world, some MMO's are not within that low price point. I get your point - some people won't play MMO's if their free just because they don't want to. That is true for SOME people.

But you're making generalizations about people's preferences with no evidence to back it up. Some people will play MMO's, but they will not pay for them. I won't pay for an MMO, but I've played my fair share of free MMO's. To me, MMO's with a monthly fee are not within that low price point. And judging my other responses, I am not the only one who feels so.

My larger problem with your argument is you presume to think your sense of value is absolute. You cannot confidently say that $15 is universally cheap based on your own experiences. You can say, "For me, $15 is worth it" but that ends with you. It doesn't extend to any other person. $15 for a piece of entertainment that I would have to force myself to play is not cheap - it's frankly a ripoff. It's a subjective judgment of value - which is what I'm trying to stress to you.

So let me get this straight, you have played quite a few free rpgs (often meaning mindless grinds, of which are alot worse than premium mmos, in quality and quantity) yet uninstalled wow after a few hours, a game which you havnt supposedly played in 8 years. So your judging standards based on 8 years and proving the OP right?. How the hell did a free MMO RPG last more than a few hours to you and WoW didnt? UI like Maya ... ect ... oh god I cant comprehend the complaining about UI actually having some depth yet being so friggin simple to use. Mind is somewhat blown. Im fine with you not liking grinds and what not, but this? if you play an mmo for 40 hours a month thats much cheaper than a normal game, and most play ALOT more than that. so yes you can play the crappy "WAH PERSONAL PREFERENCE YOU LOSE" card .... but its just crap. dollar to hour, there isnt any cheaper form of digital entertainment, including movies (well, music is debatable). complain about mediorce gameplay at low lvls when that is pretty much the same for every RPG ever. again, mind blown.

The monthly fees, 99% of quests are fetch quests, and the thing that usually motivates me to play a game is a good story and since mmo's are gameplay first and story second I tend to get bored very quickly. I do play some f2p mmo's but mainly because I have friends that also play them so it's more to hang out with friends online rather than actually playing the game.

[QUOTE="PC360Wii"]MMO if the most popular genre in the world, one of the most difficult and hardcore, and casual at the same time. Ofcourse... consoles cant utilize them possible and the average audiance is pretty damn casual for the majority for them.

Boss fights are crap in the majority of games nowadays EXCEPT MMOs, which give a boss experiance like no other can.

No reason to hate other than old "I DONT LIKE GRIND (much less these days in majority of MMOS) or simply (IM CRAP OR DONT LIKE PEOPLE.) OR IM A TWEENY KID THAT CANT AFFORD 15 DOLLARS A MONTH ON ONE OF THE CHEAPEST DOLLAR TO TIME ENTERTAINMENT MODELS EVER!Moriarity_

Yo do realize every mmo boss fight is tank and spank or trial and error right?

Another person that described the majority of boss fights in gaming. I can dumb down things to thier very core, doesnt change the concept that they are more large scale, more involved and more dangerous than anything you find in singleplayer experiances.

Find monster, attack attack attackattackattackattackattackattackattackattackattackattackattackattack, spell/ability attackattackattackattack. dead. Get gold/stuff/exp stuff. Go back to town, use/sell stuff to get better stuff. Rinse repeat for the next 2 years of your REAL life.

goblaa
Congratulations you just described 99% of all games we play.
