Price, Games and it come after xbox. The ps2 cost quite abit aswell. But it was the only choice at the time because Nintendo and M$ come later. If they can get their console out before xbox the graphics whores will buy it.
My 4870 graphics card from like 4 years ago could do 1080p and 60fps easy on alot of games. 720p is just to low for the 50inch HD screen of today.
