The psu requirements of a HD2900XT aren't thát much higher than a Geforce 8800 GTX ... you would probably need a big PSU anyways. It's a silly argument really, especially for those people who have a Geforce 8800 GTX right now, because let's be honest what's your psu?? I'm actually a bit amazed by the fact that the difference between DirectX 9 and 10 is almost non-existent ... and that while DirectX 10 has already shown some truly beautiful water effects in the tech demos that would suite a game like this....
This game runs excellent with a ATI HD2900XT too, everything at it's max and on the highest resolution my monitor supports ... it really is a truly awesome game to not only play, but also to just look at!! :) Oww, and then I haven't even got Vista installed, so it's all still DirectX 9 glory! I'm definitely going to buy vista for DirectX 10 when more games support it.
HD2900XT gives by far the most bang for bucks, it's idiotic to even consider a Geforce 8800 640mb gts. Here where I live the HD2900XT is still way cheaper and in most tests they are either on par or the HD2900 is better .... apart from that I do not believe every benchmark test out there, because on Lost Planet my HD2900XT does a way better job than most benchmarks said it would ... it's an ASUS EAH2900XT , just in case somebody wonders...

I'm getting WAY WAY better performance in S.T.A.L.K.E.R with my ASUS HD2900XT ... this roundup is pretty crappy .... and it's not my Core 2 Duo or RAM ...
@Painkiller-jack: Dude, Halo 1 already had softshadows, Halo 2 also has them, look closer ... These graphics aren't out of date, that's simply **** and I'm not even a real Halo fan, besides, until Halo 3 arrives this is Halo at it's best, graphically. The water has reflections in Halo 2 PC and the warthog has a bloom shader, so again, this is not outdated, this picture is perhaps not the best example to show the real differences, although oow so obvious.
