Day 3, Guild Wars and B******!!

Day 3 Got up at 7:50 (I felt like a zombie) to go to work. The first task I was set was to half price all those crap children's magazines. You know, the ones that come with three useless gifts and a 15 page long magazine. I even found a magazine that was about 12 pages long and came with a bag of blots that cost £5.99!! I'm not kidding! Other than that it was a pretty uneventful day, I updated the business books, threw yesterdays expired chocolate our and stocked the shelves. That was it, hopefully tomorrow will be more eventful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guild Wars Today me and my sister bought Guild Wars for a tenner, Bargain! Anyway my sister is installing it now as I write and i'll give you my opinion when it comes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- B******! Instead of giving you a rant about the PS3s Europe delay. I'll give you Shasam712 in its place :D "Sooooo....I am guessing you have seen the news. Us Europeans are getting screwed over again. The PS3 will not launch here until March, so the big E3 announcement where they announced a world wide launch window of one week is out of the window. That was the good announcement, that was what gained them some respect in a conference that was otherwise a joke. The price, real time weapon switching, realistic games with giant crabs...it was all a joke. But the release date showed a glimer of hope that they might get something right. So Sony have gone down in my estimation, they may have shortages and all but that is no excuse. If you have announced a date then you must know if you will hit that date or not. If anything, Nintendo have done it right. We all might be getting up in arms that they are telling us nothing, but at least we know that when they announce something then that WILL be the date! Not some figment of their imagination."

Work Experience: Day 2

Once again I got up at 7:50AM (HATE, HATE, HATE!) to set off for work. This time my sister was in the car because she had to top up her phone . She said I was a wuss for saying my chest hurt slightly (see day 1 for how that happened). She said she would never complain...yeah right, this from a person who can't stand needles . Anyway, my first task of the day was to sort out the out of date chocolate bars from the shelf. I'm now going to give you a tip. NEVER buy chocolate from WHSmiths. I filled a whole basket full of food that had expired! Including a Kinder egg which had a date of 15th January 2006! I think I might have saved someones life :). After discovering the amount 'slightly off' chocolate my boss sent me to clear out the storage of any possible out of date chocolate. This was hard, partly because the chocolate was very tempting, and the fact it was like going though the super market cereal section and checking every box for its expiration date. When I finished, I was asked to restock the drink bottles. Amazingly Powerade seems to be more popular than Coke! Thankfully after that it was my break, I decide to have a look around Kidderminster. I saw a few people from my school around as well, all of them not wearing uniforms (like I was), lucky gits. After break, I was given quite an important job. I was asked to do some half price labels for some chocolate bars which were almost out of date . Since there were over a hundred of these this took me some time to do. I was amusing when one of the other people who works at Smiths tried to get the label maker to work and his girlfriend came in and managed to get it to work first time she tried . And thats it for my work day. Next time I use the label maker I've got to try and put a £3 sticker on Shadow of the Colossus to see if it works. Oh, one last thing. When I was in the storage room I found a copy of Herbie for the GBA. It had a 'returned goods' sticker on it. I wonder why? :D

Work Experience: Day 1

I woke up this morning at 7:50AM (a time which nobody should get up at) both looking forward to the day ahead and at the same time very nervous. Was I going to be working with a nice, happy bunch of people? Or will I get a gang of jerks who make me clean out the sewer just because they can? About an hour later I arrived at WHSmith. It was not a particularly busy day, but there was a screaming baby which alone made it a noisy atmosphere. Anyway, I found the supervisor who told me to wait a minute because he had some business in the back. So waited....and waited....and waited. It was half an hour later before he had time to see me. When he was finally ready, we went up to the staff room to talk. At first it was about the Health and Safety issues I had already had to read about beforehand (thank you Mr. Blair). But then we got on to the things I will be doing. Which, basically, was stocking and putting up magazines. I got straight on with it. Starting with the gaming mags :D I put up quite a few of them up. Including Car, Skateboarding, Cycling, Football (the English kind) and Shooting magazines. Did you know there's a magazine called the Shooting Times? Then I was asked to put the puzzle books up...which there were 6 full shelves of! This as you could imagine took me awhile to do. But thankfully, my break was right after. :) After lunch and a few pages of my Lee Child book I was asked...to file documents...oh joy. About three draws in something disastrous happened, I pulled a chest muscle! How in the world I managed to pull a chest musule filing I'll never know! I tried to go on but the pain was unbearable. In the end I had to ask to have a lie down in the staff room. Thankfully I was able to go. And thats about it, they wouldn't let me do any more work after that so I went home. Overall I'd say it was a pretty good day other than that last mishap, and i'm (kinda) looking forward to tomorrow.

Entering a Work Experience.

Tomorrow, I'll be starting my work experience at WHSmiths. I really hope that the people I work with will be nice and won't give me constant health and safety lectures (like the school did). I'll try to keep an update of how it goes but i'd like to ask. How was work experience for you(if you've done it)? Was it a pleasant experience or was it traumatising? Also, did you get any free stuff or a few pounds/dollars off of things in the store? I might just be able to get a few cut price games! Wish me luck!

Lights, Camera, Action Movies!

This is the blog I hit the delete key on… I don't know what's come over me these past few days, but I seem to have developed a bit of an addiction to action movies, and I have decided to review the action I’ve seen so far. Not in the sense of analyzing the acting, sets, camera angles, plot ect. But instead giving you a rating out of ten on what I consider the two most important aspects of an action movie. The cockyness of the main character, and the killing factor So then, i'll start with: Die Hard Cockyness – If you’ve ever seen Die Hard you’ll know that John McClane is the king of the one-liners. Two classics include Yippee-ki-yay, motherf***** and Happy trails Hans (as he fall off a skyscraper)…10/10 Killings – I’d say more than 20 people, which I consider as an 8/10 Overall Score - 18 Rambo Cockyness – Hmm…Rambo’s confident, but doesn’t really make that many one liners…6/10 Killings – After hearing all the acclaim about how many deaths are in Rambo films, I was disappointed to see about…what…2 kills?...2/10 Overall Score - 8 Dirty Harry Cockyness – Very, including the all-time classic about a magnum and feeling lucky…9/10 Killings – Just the psycho at the end, extremely disappointing…1/10 Overall Score - 10 Alien Cockyness – Starts ok. Then Riply starts panicking at the end…3/10 Killings – The Alien kill everyone on the ship accept the main character…which is about 10…6/10 Overall Score – 11 (2 extra for the Alien birth) Rambo II Cockyness – Same as the first, with a few more one liners…7/10 Killings – Now I see the acclaim! Rambo must kill at least 50 people in the helicopter alone!...10/10 Overall Score – 17 Under my scoring system Die Hard is the best source of action so far with Rambo II not far behind. I’m going to watch the 3rd Rambo soon but I don’t really know where to go from there. So if you could recommend a few of your favorites, I’d appreciate it.

GAAAAAAAHHHHHHHh!!!!

*******! ****! ****! ****! I Was wiriting a blog when I hit the delate key! UPDATE: Hey I just noticed something. Spot the 5 letter word in the rage!

Demo 1, the Ultimate!

I've had a lot of fond gaming memories over the years. Streets of Rage co-op, playing Final Fantasy IX, Bomberman. But nothing really comes close to what I felt like when I first played...DEMO 1! Demo 1 is a free demo I got with my first of two PS1s. It featured a selection of game demos. Including Crash Bandicoot, Tekken 2, Wipeout and Ridge Racer Revolution. As a 5 year old boy who didn't even know 3D exsited at that time (yeah, I was an idiot), I was blown away. There was also a video of Broken Sword which at the time didn't impress me very much with all the '3D' going around on disc. There's also an option to play a CD but since the PS1 can already play CDs, it seems a little pointless. Then there's the best part of the disc, something that still amuses me now (for a miniate or two) and that is....the Dinosaur Tech Demo! There a Manta ray tech demo as well but its no where near as entertaining as the Dinosaur. Anyway, here is the Dinosaur in action! [video=cHIykDao5bsJuj_f]

Me like Scrubs!

About a few mouths ago my sister came back from Uni with a very unhealthy interest in a TV series called Scrubs. Taking her 'its the best TV show ever' opinion I decided to watch it. It was very good show. Not as good as my sister made out but a good show none the less. Today I had a two hour marathon of the show and after each episode I liked it more and more! I particularly like Dr Cox's sarcastic personalty and J.Ds imagination. So then, if you have not seen Scrubs then I recommend you watch it immediately! (Ok sis, I've advertised you're stupid show, now can you put the gun down? Please?) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I also see that you can now tag blogs and put them in a category. Good I suppose. But as far as I can tell the category does not come up in the blog itself so what the point? As for the tags....I wonder if anybody tags this blog post with 'tags'. UPDATE: I have just realized that the category does come up

Camera of Death!

I have just had one of the most terrifying incidents that ever was a few minutes ago. I was very close to being banned for using the video camera and losing all my PS3/Wii fund (so far £445). Let me explain... I was trying to record a speed run to upload on this site and, after a few attempts, the cameras battery ran out. So I put it on charge and went for a jog. When I got back It was charged enough for another go. I sat it back in ready to start again...but it did not turn on. Tried again...nothing. I checked it out and I found the battery was the wrong way in...and was stuck. My mom went crazy! After repeating what she said for about 20 mins (moms are like that eh?) she threatened to have me pay for it if we could not get it out. Worried was an understatement. Thankfully we found some strange curved scissors which managed to get it out fine. Thank the lord. It would have taken me a long time to recover from losing £445.
