neither game redefined the FPS genre.

POJO_MOFO
I agree, I would argue COD4 did more to push FPS forward than either Halo 3 or KZ2

I never played Halo 3 but COD4 is my favorite FPS on consoles and yes I bought KillZone 2

I think its great to be part of the majority for once, though just through default ( I only own a PS3). Though, I dont think of myself as a fanboy, I'm just not experienced with the 360. I think there are way more Cows than Lemmings and thats probably due to the PS2... which is my all time favorite console. I must say though, some people are Sony fans to an unhealthy level, writing threads that sound just like a sales pitch, like an employee. I never quite grasped the term "fanboy" till I came to system wars. ****PS how do you add a poll?

Any gaming experience on the 360 can pretty much be experienced on the PS3--shooters, fighters, RPGs, or any other genres. However some experiences can only achieved with the PS3.

BLU-RAY: To date, I have yet to see Xbox 360 offer the type of experiences like MGS4 or Killzone 2. MGS4 uses Blu-ray's disk space for the most awesome presentation of story ever. The amount of space needed for its cutscenes and uncompressed audio simply cannot be done on the 360. Killone 2 offers the most impressive graphics technologies currently available on home consoles. Killzone 2 uses over (40?, 25?) gigs of diskspace. Total DVD space for Xbox 360 is only 8.5 gigs!

To those who still question the advantages of Blu-ray, answer me this: Xbox 360 came to market easier to develop for as well as a one-year head start. Why then does the 360 lack any game that can match the PS3's MGS4 and Killzone 2 in terms of the quantity and quality of sights and sounds? Gears 2 might be comparable to MGS4 in over all graphics, but MGS4 wins in MORE contents (space consuming but amazing cutscenes) and more uncompressed sounds (I am not sure if Gears 2 uses uncompressed sounds). Killzone 2, well, it is pretty much the accepted console graphics king if we go by current reviews.

Cell: This is what allows PS3 games to have more stuff on the screen at the same time--number of players, explosions, vehicles, gusts of winds, blades of grass, etc. while offering HD quality graphics. Because the 360 lacks the Cell processor, it is my belief that it cannot offer the type of games found on the PS3--games with Resistance 2's graphics and 60 players online or Killzone's graphics with 32 players online. If you still doubt the cell processor's advantages, then answer me this:

Xbox 360 came to market easier to develop for as well as a one-year head start. Why then that good looking games on the 360 do not have as many things on screen as those on the PS3? Before you say having lots of things on screen doesn't matter, try playing Killzone 2 and see how everything comes together to create the most atmospheric wartime environments ever.

Sixaxis: Many people have said that Sixaxis is a gimmick. Their ancestors probably said the same thing about chopticks when they first came out. Motion control is relatively new in console gaming. Have you used Killzone 2's sniper rifle? Best yet, have you played Flower? I encourage every PS3 owners to try out Flower. Some of you might not like it. But most will no doubt think it's worth the $10 price. It offers an experience unlike anything ever offered on a home console. In my opinion, Flower alone proves Sixaxis is a clear advantage to have on the PS3.

All of this discusion leads to one glaring problem with Xbox LIVE. You are asked to pay $50 a year, yet you cannot play the games with the best grahpics, the best sounds, or the most number of players. It does't even allow you to play the most relaxing game ever made. As such, I am one the many gamers who think Xbox LIVE is a rip-off.

I find it puzzling that the thread author has so much time on their hands to write such long posts and have all of them say the same thing, go buy a PS3. So, I'll just sum things up for them," Please, go out and buy a PS3... oh, and buy flower too"

I am the topic poster and just though I should mention that a solution for the worst part of the PS3 controller (the R2/L2 buttons) are the pro-triggers add-ons that you can buy.

You can buy them on Amazon.com.

Here's a picture:

dark-warmachine

Hopefully, Sony will design theDS4 with this in mind as well asswaping the D-pad andleft stick replacemant and making the controller more comfortable.

I'd want that! Since I havn't really spent too much time on a 360 i have to say that I'm limited to my PS3 controller experience. It is tough to use the controller for shooters if you are using more than two of the L and R buttons. For example in Killzone 2, When I use L2 to crouch and L1 to aim and R1 to shoot and then try to use the cover system my fingers get crowded. It takes my aim off! My girlfriend says I do have man hands.

Preferably I would want them to do what's best for them and not the devs. However, by July, I expect the price to be down.

Preferably, I'd want them to do what's best for me and my friends, lower the price, we are, after all, the consumers. i hope you are with us!

[QUOTE="PS2luv"] Indeed, but if they have the science to populate an entire planet you'd think that their weaponry would go past hot lead. Plus, the Helghast are no longer "human" "The game is set in an era of space colonization where the Helghast Empire has recovered from its defeat in the First Helghan War and launched a blitzkrieg against the outer Interplanetary Strategic Alliance (I.S.A.) colony planet Vekta. Vekta's orbital Strategic Defense (S.D.) platforms failed during the initial assault, allowing the Helghast to land swarms of soldiers onto the surface and making it all the more difficult for the outnumbered I.S.A. forces. In the game, the Helghast are a faction of human descendants who colonized the planet Helghan many generations ago. The planet's harsh environment forced the Helghast to adapt and mutate so much that they can no longer be considered human. They are stronger, faster and more resilient than their human cousins, and possess a burning hatred for humanity. Except for a small number of half-breed Helghast and trained troopers, they require a gas mask and air processing tank that creates air similar to that found on the planet Helghan." Strangely enough, the gas masks are not necceary on their own planet. Kind of a goof on the story's editors.shawn7324

Why is everyone going, oh the guns aren't alien like, well one our playing as a human plus there is the electric gun you use in story mode

Also note that no one really knows what " Alien Like" really is.

Perhaps not, but I'm willing to go on a limb here and suggest that "Alien like" isn't world war 2 weapon like... or moreso, like the weapons on Helghast.

That might have something to do with the face that the Helghast are from Earth.

Have you played the game? You go to their planet and they are using human weapons. During the game you come across gun racks filled with world war 2 style weapons. Strangely, the electric bolt weapon (not the bolt gun btw) is the exception, if they can deviate from normal hot lead weapons, why just do it with one gun, plus, it doesn't show up all that often.
