Papitar Blog

Frequent posting! Right?

Yeah, as you all know, I'm like the most active Gs user nowadays =p You could say I'm just busy, or just not that into Gs anymore. I don't know. I rarely see any topics in the forums I bother posting in, so I don't even log on that often. My last blog was from Nov the 1st, 2010 =)

The finnish summer has been just lovely, probably the best in a few years atleast. It's warm, and I love it =) I had a nice "vappu" =

(InFinland, Walpurgis day (Vappu) is, along withNew Year's EveandMidsummer(Juhannus), the biggestcarnival-festival held in the streets of Finland's towns and cities. The celebration, which begins on the evening of 30 April and continues to 1 May, typically centres on copious consumption ofsparkling wineand otheralcoholic beverages. Student traditions, particularly those of the engineering students, are one of the main characteristics ofVappu.)

And we "just"(bout a month ago) finished celebrating Midsummer's Eve here and as tradition had a hella big "kokko".

Anyway, I'm currently out of things to play/do, so I thought I might spent a quick 10minutes writing a blog =p

First up, what I've been playing the last few months or more.

Crysis 2

What can I say, it's a pretty good FPS, and I enjoyed it. Too bad I think the first one was better. The setting doesn't allow as much choices as the first one, and the maps feel a bit more "pipelike". The suit feels more clumsy and slow. The gunsplay is still good, and there are a few fun weapons in the game. I would've liked a bit more liberty with the attachements though. I also thought you spent a bit too much time fighting aliens, when in actuality the humans were way more fun. You actually felt like a predator or somekinda supersoldier, when fighting aliens it turned into a pretty much regular shooter.

Might be worth a try if you liked the first one, or FPSses in general. But it's nothing out of the ordinary in the end.

Duke Nukem Forever

Yeah, this game wasn't really for me. The pacing was way too slow and some of the humor felt a bit too forced. The guns felt lame and you could only carry two of them. Some of the levels just sucked too.

A plus for some of the puzzles and the interactive enviroment though.

Might be worth a try if you liked the humor in the previous game.

Witcher 2

This game was one of the best RPG's I've played. The story is really fantastic, the voice acting is pretty good, it has multiple storylines/endings, and good characters. It's dark and isin't afraid of using mature content. It's pretty brutal at times and has a few sex scenes. The graphics are beautiful and the enviroments are done well. They feel big even though they at times aren't. Quests and missions are well done, and at times you don't even notice the difference between a sidequest and the mainquest.

The story is as I said really complex and at first you might feel a bit lost. Politics, characters, history, wars and flashbacks pop out all over the place, but you'll catch on soon enough =) I did, and I haven't played the first one.

Definately worth a try.

Total War: Shogun 2

It's pretty much like the previous entries, maybe a bit more simple - but imo that's a good thing. Basically you start out with a clan, and try to take over as much as possible, either by war or politics. Battles are done in real time, but the general campaign is done on the map in turns. You can have armies based off any troops you want, and they work a little bit like rock-paper-scissors, so you need to have a overall balanced army. You also have generals, either from your family tree, or just some promising fella. You can level up your generals and you'll get attached to them after a while. It's important to keep them loyal, either by giving them an assignment, or marrying them into your family.

In short it's a good game, try it if you like RTS games.

See ya!

Amnnesiazation 5 of Newerth: New Vegas

Hey all. Been busy, but not too busy to try out/play through a few games =p Mini-reviews/opinions incoming.

First game that I've played, or actually completed,

is Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Yeah, this game was scary.

Basically you're suffering from severe Amnesia(obviously), and you're trying to figure out why your character "chose to forget", and why he wants revenge on "one of his friends". The plot is not really too original or deep, but it's a reason to keep playing, also works as a great tensioncreator. Some of the minor stories you'll hear in the form of flashbacks are voiceacted really well, and are actually extremly disturbing at times. Paired with an creepy looking game and lightning, it's without doubt the scariest game I have ever played. Brings me back to the days i used to play Resident Evil on the PS. Which is not really scare anymore.

It's an atmospherical, creepy and a really terrifying game at times - thanks to the audio. You're not equipped with any kind of weapons, except for your faithful lantern, which is constantly running on oil, which you have to refill =D To survive, you need to run or hide, plain and simple. Doors, wheels, closets and chests are opened by "dragging" them up, with physics, and you'll get a few of those "horror movie moments" where you are trying to open the door the wrong way =p You can block doors with chairs or tables. Aside from trying to figure out what happened to your character, you're thrown to solve puzzles and find certain quest objectives. Some of these puzzles are relavtively clever, utilizing physics, but there are some which are some pretty annoying "find all the 3 pieces" types in there too. They feel especially annoying when you're scared =p

Definately recommending this to anyone intrested in horrorgames. Only bad thing about the game, was the ending.

Also tried out Civilization V

Well, i tried this out just when i woke up. At first it felt complex and hard, but once you learn what you can do/should do, it's not too bad. That was pretty much my impressions of the game: "not too bad". The thing is the next time i looked at the clock, i had spent half a day playing the game =) It can get pretty addicting, and there is always something to do. I've heard it's a bit more combat-focused then the prequals, but I think it's the more fun aspect of the game anyway.

Worth a try if you like strategy/sim games.

Next up, Heroes Of Newerth

What can I say. You know what they say about the internet, communitys and such. The bad things. They ALL are correct when you look at this game =p Boasting the worst community to play a computergame, EVER, it's still a fun game in it self. The reason for this will be explained later. The genre is pretty wierd. You know how strategy games have tons of units which you control? Well, in HoN you only control one, but it has lots of skills and items you can get/buy. You have 4 player teammates, and regurarly spawning NPC creeps, which march in waves to 3 of the "lanes" the map has. You get xp from being nearby enemy creeps, and gold, if you land the killing blow. The objective is to destroy the enemy headquarters, which is in the end of each of the 3 lanes. The thing is, your heroes aren't strong enough, so you need to "lane" a while before you can do this. You choose a hero in the beginning (depending on the game mode, it can be "All Random", or "Everyone pick whatever they want"). There are a few maps in the game, but everyone is just playing the same one in general.

The game has like 70 heroes, which are divided into 2 sides, hellbourne and legion. They are also categorized in agility, intelligence, and strenght. They have different roles too like tank, support, etc. I won't go too much into the game cause it's pretty much.

The game is worth a try, i guess, it's a fun game by itself. The community is bad, i mean really bad, and that is because the game has statistics, and it's a teambased game. Everytime you die, you make your enemies stronger (giving them xp and gold). This makes the game harder for your teammates. When the game is lost, they're statistics get worse, so they rage. People take the game way too seriously. There is a No-Stats gametype, and i recommend playing quite a few games there. The game can be complex and fun, and there's very many build and items you can combine.

Last one up, Fallout: New Vegas

I won't write too much about this, since I haven't played it enough.

Doesn't really differ from the original Fallout 3, though they have improved some stuff and added more. The difficulty seems to be a bit better scaled, though i'm not sure how it works later on. The AI can be stupid at times, and feels a bit old. The dialogue and items are pretty cool though.

Guess that's it. Take care =]

Happy halloween!!!

(might be late on that actually, we don't really celebrate that stuff around here =D)

Still remember me?

Heyall.

It's me again, do you people still remember me? =) It's been around a year i think(?)

What can i say... Ugh, the winter was cold and dark, though my christmas was pretty cool. Too much stuff has happened for me to remember writing it all down so this won't be that big of a blog =p

The finnish summer has been totally awesome and hot. Hottest summer in Finland in 76 years actually. above 30celsius. It's a lot atleast here, because usually it's around 20-22celsius on a nice summer day. So yeah i've been outside a LOT. Some mornings i've eaten breakfest on our roof, which is kinda cool =)

I've also been on a trip to Bulgary with a few friends. It was a pretty "touristy" trip and my friends were a little boring, but the trip was relaxing in general. I met some swedish people and hang out with them too. Apparently they lived near where i used to when i live in sweden! Other than that, nothing too special to tell about the trip, we ate well and relaxed. =)

Anyway, pic or two from the trip.

On the gaming side, the latest game i've been playing is Doom 3. It's hella scary at times, even though i've played it before =) Definately recommend it for anyone who likes shooters at all. Some of the scares can be a bit cheap though, if you play it you'll see what i mean.

You'll love these little guys everytime you see them =) They're like your only allies in the entire game. You're pretty much alone the entire game, except for some radio chat for the story.

Sorry for the short blog, just too much stuff, and i just don't know where to start =p

The time has come =[

Hello =)

Sorry for being so inactive lately, what can I say, I've been busy travelling and enjoying life. I think that's a good reason to be away, right? Haven't even had time to do a blog explaining my absense(?). Haven't really played anything either to be honest. I've read and commented the blogs that I've missed though, and if I haven't, I just didin't know anything smart to say that hadn't been said already - shortly, I've read them.. Anyway..

The time has come.. or well, it will come in two weeks, for me to start my studies. I had a years break as some of you might now, and that break has now come to an end. As will probably my Gs visiting too, unfortunately. You'll still see/find me on my MSN, so if you're intrested to stay in touch, that is where you'll find me. Think I have it somewhere on my profile, and if I don't, pm me for it or something.. I might be on GS rarely, but don't count on it.. I'll try to be on more these two weeks but I can't promise anything. Might even do more blogs or something, we'll see.

Take care, bye!

Too much.

Just woke up and ate breakfast. Had this weird/scary dream about an "Benji-elevator" which happened to be kinda dangerous. Was scary as hell, but I won't go into detail now though. =D

So I was bored one day, really bored, and almost none of my friends or someone I'd spend time with was in town. It was raining and I was in a mild hangover. Perfect opportunity to play a game, right? =)

Shortly I played through the whole game in one sitting with a friend. I didn't really pay attention to the clock so I can't say how long it took. The game was decent, even enjoyable at first, but since we played it so much it became a chore to finish. I've never been so happy to hear the ghost busters theme when the ending titles rolled. =S

Can't write an honest/fair review so I won't bother.

I've also played Street Fighter 4 at this same friend a few times. It's a good fighting game, but I don't like the cut scenes and the soundtrack in general. Might get it for PC, but I'll have to see how well the online works. For those who know the game, I like playing with Ken or C.Viper. =)

__

I've also thought about changing my signature and banner. Not sure about the sig, but the banner is going for sure. Don't really have any ideas for what to do though. Gaming pics/Rl pics/Series pics/Movie pics, I don't know.. We'll see.

Can't mention anything special I would've done after the "regatta"-thingie, except that there was this especially beautiful and sunny day and a few parties on a few days, other than that - it has rained and most my friends have been away =s

Thanks for reading, thanks for commenting.

Take care =)

Back!

So, I'm back =)

As I said in my last blog, I was in this event called "Hangon Regatta/Hangö Regatta". It was a sailing competition at first, and still is, but nowadays the youth gather here from all over the country and spend time (drink, fight and other stuff =S). I mean the place is literally crawling with people. There are lots of police and guards at the event, and the event is the reason why the city it's held in is so high in the assault rankings. The whole city is also pretty much full of litter after the happening and it takes a while to clean the place.

So yeah, we went there with a car and stayed up most of the night/day. It was mediocre, but I didin't really expect anything more. It's not really as chill as it used to be. The beach was pretty fun though. Meeting new people was pretty cool too.

I don't know what more to write really =p Good to be back?

Away.

So yeah, I'm gonna be away for a while, I'm gonna go to this big event called "Hangö Regatta". I might post a more long blog about the event when I get back.

Might meet a few new people there, we'll see. One is actually from GS =o. Heh, anyway, bye!

awesomeNESs and Midsummer.

Hello again to everyone =P

I don't usually do blogs this close to each other but this time this'll have to go =p

Now that I have been playing new games mostly for a while I thought I need a little nostalgia and old games. The oldest console I have and really want to have anyway, is the NES or the Nintendo Entertainment System if you want the full name. Most of you probably know it or have played it so you know what I'm talking about.

Yes. I really want to play old NES games like Little Samson, Super Mario Bros. 3, Megaman 2, Turtles, Batman, Adventure Island (Dunno if this is the real name) and many others. We have two boxes full of NES games so I think I'll find something to play. I'm gonna go pick up the system and some games from my parents house today. Anyway these games are waay harder than games these days. I think NES has one of the worlds hardest platforming games if I'm right. There were only a few NES game I ever finished, Megaman 2 being the only one from the ones I listed above. It'd be fun to finish some of them this time. It'd be fun to record some gameplay, but I'm not sure I want to go through the trouble really since there wouldn't be viewers anyway. Basicly I need to record the footage on my DVD recorder and transfer the stuff to my PC.. That doesn't sounds too hard really. Maybe. We'll see. A Megaman 2 walkthrough could be a possibility since it's the only game I can promise I'll beat =)

In other news I started working yesterday again. I didin't want to waste all my free-days by being home cause of the weather. It's still pretty quiet around at the "boutique" so it's not really bad at all. So, if I'm on GS between 08.00-15.00 (in my time of course) means I'm at work, on a laptop slacking =)

I'm also going to go via the movie rental today so any suggestions are welcome.

Oh, Midsummer is also coming. It's Midsummer's Eve on the 19th and Midsummer the day after. If some of you don't know it's a time of the year where the sun doesn't go down at all and everyone's drinking through the whole night and lighting large bonfires by the shores =s. Heh, was a little rough explanation but this is what it in reality is.

We're gonna go to a friends summer cottage, the amount of people is still unsure and we're not sure on who's car we'll take and so on, minor issues only. The weather is probably going to suck, it'll be cloudy and change a lot, max expeted temperatures are going to be around 15-20C, yeah sure that sounds high, but that's during the day and only in certain parts of the country. Bonfires are free to be done everywhere cause of the weather. I hope people don't take this too literally =) My brother also has his birthday next monday so I'm going to have a busy week. I'm not complaining, this is way better than laying around at home!! Anyway there might be pics coming from Midsummer but I'm not promising anything!

That was about it. Thanks for reading and commenting!!!

Random song of the blog

Bye!

_

ps. I'm stuck in Grim Fandango at the moment and haven't really advanced. The game's great though.

ps2. It hasn't rained but the weather still isn't "sunny" or good.

Sadetta.

This topic doesn't have a real topic, nor is it a countdown or a rundown/favorite blog of E3. It's just me talking a lot of crap and telling what I've been doing. Was a long time ago when I made these kinda blogs .. Anyway, just click away if you were expecting something else, I don't want to waste your precious minutes on the computer =P The reason I'm doing this mainly cause I haven't done a blog in a while, but I'll admit that boredom is also a reason. Anyway here's the song of the blog. It's a sad, beautiful and a relaxing song. Most of you probably won't enjoy it, but why not give it a try?

Today it rained like hell. Also lots of lightnings, weren't too close though. The topic basically means rain in finnish.

I've been sort of frustrated lately, but I've tried to not let it out or show it really, haha, heard this isin't a healthy thing to do =D. The reason for my frustration this is that it just happened that the time I finally have off from work it has got to rain, or just otherwise just be pretty cold - the weather sucks. Thinking of getting back to work and stop wasting my free days for this.. This time should be one of the warmest of the year. My sleeping rhytm/inner clock, whatever you want to call it, is getting more messed up everyday now that I don't really have any obligations or have to rush anywhere in the morning. I'm typing this at 02:35AM, not probably gonna go to sleep in an hour or two, we'll see.

I recently got a new neighbour. She's a few months older than me, studies to be a doctor. A pretty unique and fun personality, we're already becoming friends and have a lot in common aso. Was actually out the other day with her and we had fun. Met some of her friends, they seem pretty cool. Oh, the problems I mentioned in my last blog are ALL solved, thank god.

On the gaming side, I've been playing Grim Fandango. It's an old adventure game on the PC. It's the first time I'm playing it, so I'm advancing really slowly. I don't mind the bad graphics, the audio and story are making up for it.

I hope you people are enjoying your summer a bit more than me, I mean I should have fun but weather just keeps getting my mood down =l I'll probably get back to work sooner or later, this is just annoying. Well, atleast I have time for gaming =) Maybe a little too much. Even if I go jogging or spend time with friends I can't help to have lots of spare time, well, not every day but still. I'm actually in the mood for an MMO, which is kinda an obvious sign I have just too much time.

Here are a few movies I've seen recently

Really dissapointed in Crank 2, the first was was an OK movie, this one was just so bad it made you laugh...

Baseketball is a pretty normal comedy movie, both in the good and the bad things.

Pulp fiction is just awesome. One of my favorite movies.

The good the bad and the ugly is also a great movie. Every scene is just wonderfully made, the music just creates just the right atmosphere to each scene and part. The ending was really cool too. A must see in my opinion. Especially if you like older movies and appreciated music in movies.

Thanks to all readers and commenters. Bye!

Problems =C

Yeah so I thought it was time for another blog since it's been a while since my last one. There won't be a song in this blog, haven't been listening to anything else but radio lately, sorry if someone wanted to hear something.

EDIT. NVM here is a song =P

I'll start with that I'm sorry I haven't been reading or commenting on your blogs, I've wanted to do that, but GS won't let me. Whenever I click on your blogs this annoying error comes on...

So I haven't forgotten you or anything, I just haven't been able to comment =c It's been like this for a while, can't remember how long exacly... Anyway, I'd appreciate any help to fix this!! PM or comment, your choice.

Besides having problem with Gs, I've had minor problems IRL. I've got problems at work/in my relationship and with my family. It's pretty frustrating and I can't see how I'd fix them atm =[ Not going in on them more than that atm though... Or atleast not for now.

And now for something more positive. The day before yesterday was graduation day. Not for me though, but I was at a party and were chilling around in Helsinki otherwise too. It was pretty cool and people behaved pretty "calmly", well, atleast better than last year =p

There were a lot of crap and bottles laying around and the younger crowd were drunk as hell, as usual and as expected. It was an extremly warm day, and the heat has continued for a couple of days now. The temperature is around 20-25C to be exact. I heard this is the last warm day in a while, it's gonna rain and be around 10C for a while now, so there goes the beach chilling, well atleast for a while.

Now for gaming. I haven't really had the time or inspiration or whatever is needed for playing tbh. I sort of quit FF8, it's just getting frustrating to level up chars again and spam Draw for what seems like hours. Maybe when I have more time, but for now, I'll have to put the game aside..

I've played UT3 for a few hours, it was pretty fun during the free weekend since there were more players than usual. I've just realised how good the bio rifle really is. And how cheap it can be =) You can basically one shot people pretty easily if you're close enough and hit the dude.

Can't think of anything else to write about so.. I guess this is it. Untill next time!

Thanks to all readers and commenters! Take care! =)
