3:15 AM.... Red Ring

I just fired up my 360. I was hoping to check the Live servers for the new Halo 3 map pack. My 360's response was, "Nope. Here, have a red Ring instead."

I do believe that this makes for the fourth time that my 360 has given me the stink-eye. Five, if you count the Hard Drive that failed me.

I need to get ready for work. I'll deal with the top notch customer service, when I get home.

Sniping With Nets

I've come to the conclusion that when living the life of an imaginary Sniper, using a rifle that fires nets rather than bullets, makes perfect sense. So long as the prey that you are stalking, is either an evil fish or a maniacal butterfly.

Halo 3 Double EXP Weekend

Bungie has once again added S.W.A.T. to this weekends playlist and the victor gets double EXP for each win and for nabbing MVP. The Double EXP Playlist, will disappear in the wee hours of Monday morning.

Extermination! Playing S.W.A.T. as an Elite, because you can't headshot them from behind. And S.W.A.T. is all about the headshot.

What you see in the image, happened about fifteen minutes ago. I was so excited, I jumped out of my chair. I'm a nerd! :)

The price of gas, is about to climb.

I work for one of the worlds largest petroleum companies. Said company, owns thousands of gas stations and truck stops throughout North America and abroad.
Today a memo was sent out to virtually all of these stations, instructing them to place immediate orders for the number four, followed by a decimal point. These numbers are for use on the large price signs that are often featured prominently in front of the stations. :(

Star Wars on Laserdisc

While doing some spring cleaning I stumbled upon a box filled with my family's old laserdiscs. Star Wars! Purchased used, back in the 80'S, for $34.99 I must have watched it at least a hundred times!

Halfway through the film, you were required to turn the disk over, just like a record. The disc was HUGE, when compared to your standard CD/DVD but they still needed both sides for a feature length film.

I also found the laserdisc player. I'm really tempted to hook it up to a television and see if it still works.

MLG Playlist in Halo 3

Coming Soon: MLG Playlist in Halo 3!
Posted By: MLG Admin | Published: March 12, 2008 7:58pm EST

"Ever since the release of Halo 2, it's been a dream of ours to have MLG settings incorporated into Matchmaking. There just isn't anyone out there who loves to play Halo as much as the MLG staff and our community, and seeing MLG inside the game has always been one of the things we hoped for most.

So you can understand how excited we are to see that dream come true: In just a few weeks, Bungie will be launching a new MLG Playlist in Halo 3, replacing the existing Team Hardcore Playlist.

This is a great testament to the growing importance of competitive gaming. Now, millions of Halo 3 players worldwide will be able to play like the pros--using the same maps and settings that we use on the MLG Pro Circuit. This means competitive gaming standards will reach a much broader audience than ever before.

It's also a huge and humbling honor for us at MLG. We've worked hard to develop game types and settings that ensure fair competition and emphasize skill, and these settings have been adopted by competitors all over the world. To be recognized now as the standard for competitive play by Bungie is, well, pretty sick to say the least. We thank the millions of MLG competitors from all over the world for adopting these gametypes to begin with. None of this could have happened without you.

I wanted to get the word out to the MLG community right away, but there will be a formal press release with more details to follow-and more surprises to coincide with our season opener at the Meadowlands in April, so stay tuned!

And for folks who aren't accustomed to competitive play, MLG will be producing a series of "Get Better Fast" content to familiarize players of all skill levels with the strategies and tactics used by MLG's pro players. So keep your eyes peeled for more details in the coming weeks and once the playlist goes live you'll know where to find me--online dominating Sepso in the MLG playlist."

I don't care for the MLG settings/gameplay but someone here at GameSpot may be interested in this news.

God Of War, Chains Of Olympus

If you own a PSP, purchase this game. It's good. Not amazing but very, very good.

Bully, Scholarship Edition

If you have already played Bully on the PS2, then let this one slide. If you have yet to spend any time at Bullworth Academy, then consider it. It's a great game. The Scholarship Edition does look better than the original but not nearly as nice as what we've come to expect from the 360.

Wisdom

"In this sad world of ours, sorrow comes to all; and, to the young, it comes with bitterest agony, because it takes them unawares. The older have learned to ever expect it."
"You are sure to be happy again. To know this, which is certainly true, will make you some less miserable now. I have had experience enough to know what I say..."

President Abraham Lincoln

On February the 8th, my mother passed away. The past weeks have been difficult. Today I received a letter from a childhood friend. A man that I have known for almost thirty years. In it, he included the above quotations. I thought I'd share them with all of you.

""You are sure to be happy again."

I think that at some point in their life, virtually everyone needs to be reminded of that.

Jeff, living large in Vegas.

Jeff Gerstmann, in Vegas.... Drinking a bit more than he should, perhaps? Seriously, I do hope that he's having an absolute blast.

I'm taking a break from GameSpot. Some of you here, mean the world to me but the current atmosphere in and around this place, is hazardous to my health. Hasta la vista. :P
