Gametrailers is horrible after the new redesign. The forums are pretty cool here and the layout is nice and simple. OT: Anything Rockstar does this gen will be bland and repetitive. They should try to make their games fun. Red Dead had great narrative, but the gameplay was lacking.
Never played Dead Island but I heard it was boring but ok for co op. I played the Mass Effect demos and I honestly don't understand the admiration of the series. The story seems interesting, but the gameplay is extremely dull. If you are looking for a sci fi game with good story and action get Deus Ex: Human Revolution! The gameplay is fun because you can choose how you want to play it with stealth or guns blazing. The story is really cool too. They are working on a movie for it as we speak :P
If you missed out on having a PS2 I feel real bad for you. It's an amazing console. Get the Jak Collection! Do it
I also recommend getting a wheel to play GT5 with, I did and it's incredibly fun. I got a Driving Force GT for christmas and GT5 has never been better. The physics are amazing.

I never owned one by my friend did. I loved Vice City, but like I mentioned I'm not into most of Sony's exclusive. I had a Gamecube which had it's own library of amazing games.
