also now that i remember where I was going with that comment, another argument for quad is if it is a game like Rome Total War, AOE, Starcraft ETC. where there are lots of objects on screen. Please correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't gameplay be improved significantly with each increase in the number of cores

[QUOTE="theragu40"] Why don't you show us some comparison benchies from your processor (the q6600) versus, say, an e8500 in a non-quad-optimized game? teddyrob

OK how about AGE of EMPIRES II yes 2.

Can still play it on my pentium 2 computer. I don't need to get a quad core etc etc. Get with the times.

What makes the difference here is whether you can still play games on a Dual core and that is clearly not the case now with GTAIV they don't play well on dual core especially athlone x2 dual cores. The Quad core will still play non optimised game well enough 60FPS etc and the dual will too but will the dual play Quad optimised game. No it will not play it well

I can truly say that AOE II has changed my life. When I was younger I played AOE I- AOE II expansion and attribute this as a top ten life event that caused me to open my closed American eyes and see and learn about the world outside the American bubble. Its also why I have never gotten a B+ or lower in history, because the game got me intrested in the history before I had to learn it in school, therefore making it fun. My grammar and spelling is whac seeing as i wrote the message above quick but you get the idea

Well normally during the day I download torrents trying to recover the 250 gigs of music I lost when I was backing up my HDD, then while that is going on I am running google word in 5 other windows, I am playing music in Winamp, have the internet open with like 50 plus tabs, I edit photos off and on, and if I'm not gaming I have my computer folding connected to Colorado state university. and various other things

I plan on using this for a while. To provide an example the laptop I am writing on now is 5 years old, so I use my gear till the tech is so dead that is starts smelling. Also if ur still on I will give a list of the gear in a second.

I will be installing these parts in a self-made case with stock cooling :( untill I can save up enough for water cooling. However the case has very good airflow from case fans.

PS> I may get the next level of intel cpu
