If you need one now, then take their word for it.

As for me, the new Sandy Bridge processors for laptops should bring more power, even a quad sets too. Soooo if I were you, I would wait.

[QUOTE="codezer0"] It is if you start running 3-monitor mode like ATi pimps these things out to do.Videodogg

Right, the only problem is that having both of them can be a little expensive.

3 monitor mode? I guess there is a whole other level of gaming out there i am not familar with at all. Happy gaming i suppose.

Once again, they're optional. I guess in my time, having more than one screen... makes you move your head a little more. It's pretty inovative, but for me, I'm happy with just one for now, or maybe two. :P
Also because my area is too crowded.

Why SLI? I really dont understand someone getting a card like a 5870, which can run any game at highest settings and resolution, and then buying and installing another 5870 for SLI mode. What does this do for you?

Videodogg

It's optional really, however having two of the same card (or more) is gonna improve the performance. I could explain in details, but this should give you an idea.

I have 5850 and she works pretty fine. ^^

Edit: I'm sorry, but using SLI on ATI Graphics card isn't gonna work. Forgot to mention that. ^^;

Great rigs. Of course mine is pretty good too. :P

Sadly I don't think she's not good enough to be shown. Heh, I like this anyways. ^^

guys seriously, go and do it now if you havent done it in along time. my GPU is idling at 43C instead of 53C, this is awesome!

GazaAli

My 5850 idle temp is around 42-45 with a 80mm fan next to it. So... I guess I'm fine.

What's your GPU?

Good luck and let us know how you get on.flyingsnail
Alright. :)

I tried reseting and slightly lower the base speed and I got triple.

I guess from what I've noticed, if I go over BS of 155, the frequency drops back to the 950s. Thus the motherboard sets to dual mode. In additon, I have 12G, just like it's supposed to be. :P

Thank you for the help, I really appreciate having you helping me out.

Oh and the others too.

If the update doesn't fix it the only thing I can think of would be to reset the cmos and see if that fixes it. If it does than you could overclock again making sure you check if it is still working in triple channel mode after each change you make in the bios (do not change more than one setting without checking). flyingsnail
I'll go with that. I tried downloading the update, but it doesn't work due to some incompatibility issue. :?

So I guess I'll go and try that.

If it is your motherboard, it might not be a bad idea to look into a bios update.XRED_0

Hmmm, well I haven't updated the board in a few months, so I'll look into it and see.

Well couldn't find the setting to adjust either modes. Also I needed to know if it uses up more ram in favor for the OC. Without overclocking, I have 12 GB of memory, after overclocking (2.66 @ 3.33), I got 8 Gigs. I know I fallowed the instructions, but they never mentioned about the change of memory too.
Maybe it's from the motherboard, which is probably a good guess.

Then again, when I ran some tests, everything seemed to be improved... greatly. I just don't know why it reads DUEL and uses up 4 Gigs.
