Greetings gentle readers,
Unless you been living under a rock or not a sports fan whatsoever, Barry Lamar Bonds hit his 756th career home run beating the record of Hank Aaron. It is possibly the greatest record in sports, in my opinion.
I just don't know what to think. I mean he broke a great baseball record, but with all the controversy that surrounds Bonds, I don't know how to react. He never tested positive for steroids, but there is a mountain of evidence that implicates that he did. He never makes it easy. If he tested positive, I would have no problem say the record is tainted, Hank Aaron owns the record. I do believe he did use steroids because of all the evidence that says he did, however, there is no concrete proof. I need that. I just can't assume he is guilty.
I am very conflicted with this thing. Most broken sports records are cut and dried, but this era in baseball clouds up everything. Who used and who didn't? If Bonds did use preformance enhancing drugs to help him break this record. These are questions that all baseball fans are asking themselves.
What he did is amazing. Hitting a baseball is absolutely the hardest thing in sports. Believe me, I know. Hitting 756 home runs in amazing with or without steroids. Even if you are completely juiced, it is still so incredibly difficult to hit a baseball at all. He should be commended for that.
So congratulations to Barry Bonds for breaking a great record. I don't know what that means.
Fore!
