Woa thanks Luminouslight, just realized we were WAY off topic.
Strategy games are very worthwhile if you enjoy the power of commanding armies. What I have noticed is that strategy games have compeltely horrible campaigns because you do the same thing in each mission: build a base, complete some random objective and eventually destroy the enemy prescence in the area. So if you want an intricate story line then do NOT buy a ton of games expecting one.
However, the multiplayer is very rewarding, even more so then first-person shooter games. This is because each game is extremely different than the next and also it takes a lot more actual strategy rather than just reflexes. It really shows the skill difference between two players and is hardly ever random.
I would employ you to purchase one of the games mentioned by many of us in this topic and simply try it out. Even just downloading a demo or two will really tell yourself if you enjoy these types of games.
It really depends on what you are into...
Turned Based? = Civilization IV
Large Scale? = Total War Series
Historical? = Age of Empires Series
Online Multiplayer? = WarCraft III
World War II? = Company of Heroes
Lord of the Rings? = The Battle for Middle Earth II
Star Wars? = Empire at War
Sci-fi? = StarCraft
Do not go with guild wars unless you are a casual MMO player. The best one out right now is most definately World of WarCraft but it really depends what you are into? Like super heroes? Get City of Heroes/Villians. Into Lord of the Rings? Get Lord of the Rings online. Into star wars? Get Star Wars Galaxies (although I don't recommend it). In a few months Age of Conan will come out and I seriously believe this will be incredible compared to WoW. In addition, Warhammer Online is coming out early next year and will be THE PvP MMO. But currently WoW has the best endgame with their intricate instances, raids and arena PvP system.
1) How is the battery life on the wireless controllers? Are they preferred over the wired ones? Why?
2) Is it easy to plug in your own external hard drive? Essentially, is the core package a good buy?
3) Are there any good bundles sold anywhere that anyone knows of?
4) Any other advice when purchasing?
