i just bought the wireless network adapter today and hooked it up and it says that my ip adress cant be found so i went into networking settups and it says that im connected to my neighbors computer. it says their last name's computer so is there any way to solve this? also my computer is upstairs and my xbox360 is downstairs

so i have my xbox 360 downstairs and the internet is upstairs. will the adaptor connect me to online even if my 360 is downstairs and the floor is seperating the internet apart from the adapter?
