amd is great for the word processing crowd at the moment, b/c its cheap and it works good enough.
amd will bounce back like how ati did
amd was better in the p4 days..
i would concider crysis a "student essential" application :P
but just go with 2 gigs, also make your own system dont do prebuilt you can probably make one for oh 350 without the monitor.
go with
this amd processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103234$100
this mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131172 $65
this memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820609283 $37
here is a small case that is cheap http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811164010 $35
video card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102724 $33
power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371005 $40
grand total of $310 before shipping, maybe $20-30 for shipping. That would cost double with simuler specs for a dell or HP.
if you need help putting it together just ask here or google "how to build pc" or on youtube. Its very simple to do and requires color cordination, if your going to college you should be able to do it.
4850 xfired with 4870 wouldn't work,
if you can hold off 1 month and wait until the 4870x2 is released the prices of the 4870 will drop
I would also reccommend the crossfired 4850s. netjive8
whyxfire 4850? why not just wait and get the x4870x2? 1 card is always better then two cards.
i feel your pain, i screamed and yelled at abercrombie when i some biznit stole the box before and i got home and it was ups i think. It was a pain and ended up not getting my money back, out $150. :(
i don't think it helps it has their huge ass logos on the shipping box. makes it more of a target.
newegg is pretty good though, direct your anger towards ups not them.
