You can do some pretty easy basic combos in Marvel vs Capcom 3 but that's because it's a very combo focused game and you're kinda meant to do MASSIVE combos which can be tougher. Still it's probably the quickest way to some big combos. I find Wolverine's basic combo to be quite easy.
IMO RE:ORC is a good game ruined by serious bugs and glitches. I was enjoying it for an hour, but then stuff like horrible AI, bosses with infinite knockdown loops and bugs that ruin a 90% completed mission kicked in.
BF is much slower paced and not full of extremely good players that just rock house every single time, at least thats what I've found.

While I do prefer BF 3 generally, the above points are why I still like to dip into CoD every now and then. I find it's a much higher paced, twitch based run n gun FPS that provides a pretty different experience to the large scale vehicle filled BF 3.
Each to their own really, you make good points but sometimes I just like some raw fast paced (and difficult) action.
Warcraft 3 / DotA is still quite popular. Could you get League of Legends or Heroes of Newerth to run on lower settings? There's a few thousand gaming hours for you :)
