Life Decisions

As I've told everyone before, I'm an ex Marine. Proudly served three years before my medical discharge. I was given a two year wait period before my current medical record would scrubed and I would be able to reenlist to the service branch of my choice.

Since my discharge, I've found a place to live, a job, and started going to college. The two years haven't went by yet, but I made the discovery that I was allowed to enlist in any other branch of service besides the Marines if I waited only a single year instead of two.

I've talked to an Army recruiter and all I seem to need is a medical waiver from my doctor before I can go to the recruitment station(MEPS)

Military life was something I found very enjoyable, and something I very easily fell in to. I won't say it's for everyone but I definitely found it satisfying. However, I can't help but think about the current War situation and school.

I have no qualms over being sent to Iraq, I had no qualms when I was in the Marines, and I certainly have no problem with it now. War is a very grave thing however, a wrong decision and I'll find myself dead.

One of the reasons I enlisted in the Marines was to pay for school. Now that I'm in school, It would be a shame If was to put it all on hold, but It would be so easy to just pick up where I had left off.

It's kinda wierd when You have to decide your future on a whim sometimes. It's kind of a nauseating feeling and it just kind of makes you wish you were back under your parent's wing again.

I just wanted to share this little bout with everyone seeing as how I haven't updated this thing in so long. I'll be sure to let everyone know how my medical goes over.

Insanity....

If  I needed confirmation about Sony's sanity, it's definitely been answered.

While there may certainly be no definate answer on the issue, speculation is all about. And considering the accuracy on many  of the predictions about the PS3's price, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if this did happen.

Gaming is by no means, a cheap hobby. Some of us spend around  $5,000 a year on games alone. Console prices are on the rise, and software is no different. Sony seems to be under this ridiculous assumption that their product is so significant, that many of us will stop at nothing at obtaining this oh so wonderful new technology! (gag!)

I can't enjoy something I certainly can't afford.

For those with nothing to do.

Go to Wikipedia. Look up your date of birth and list any events in history.

Being a civie blows...

For those who didn't know, I'm an ex-Marine, proudly served three years for the Corps,

Unfortunately, I was discharged for medical reasons, and I'm out of my 02 gear, and back in my civies. I miss the military, despite many notorius claims, Uncle Sam does know how to take care of his own. I learned to be more responsible, be independant, and how to take orders. I was able to pay for college, live on my own, and experience the feeling of being apart of a brotherhood. Once a Marine, always a Marine.

Not that being a civillian again sucks. It's nice to be able to return to your own place without a someone yelling at you for being past curfew, or why you haven't sewed your chevrons on right, or how you're supposed to wear a shirt in the chow hall.

But I miss the structure, the discipline, and most of all... My PX. It's wonderful to buy games tax free and at a discount at that. I mean, you have no idea how cheap stuff is at a PX!! Jesus Christ there was so much to buy, so little time. And I was making good money in the Corps, reeeeal good money.

Oh well, rest up, heal up, finish school, and I can go back and be a Leader of Marines. (Officer for those new to the jargon)

Edited for less mindless banter.

I'm honestly tired of it all...

E3 has done nothing to move me, nothing to excite me, and has given me practically no hope what so ever.

Sony came along and practically crashed before even getting off the ground. $600 isn't much in terms of value, but it's still ridiculous. This Blue Ray thing is just nonsense, I seriously don't see any developer utilising all of that space. A possible extra $100 all for nothing.

I was pleased to see them return to the original Dual Shock design, but this tilt measuring nonsense is pointless. How many games do you honestly see utilising this in an effective manner?

The games were a high point, but the only one in my case. If it weren't for games like FF XIII , I wouldn't even bother with the thing

The Wii certainly didn't give me any reason to jump up and down for excitement either. Red Steel looked grand, but nothing worth writing home about. Simplistic sword fighting, and difficult movement don't seem too exciting.

The Wii never struck a cord with me, I find the controller concept pointless, and the fact that Nintendo seems to think that this is what "I" want, is hysterical. The games certainly seemed promising, so the Wii will certainly find it's way into my home

The 360's high point seemed to be focused on Halo3. Microsoft's golden fleece and the XBOX's savior. Although games like Gears of War and Lost Planet certainly caught my attention. The 360 still seems to be lacking in Japanese support, something I find crucial as my games of choice are mostly Japanese.

That isn't to say that I don't like Western games or won't plan to purchase the system, but Japanese games are certainly a big seller for me.

There's still time before this whole thing comes together  in Sony and Nintendo's case. And there's still plenty of time to garner support for the system in the case of  Microsoft, but the excitement is gone for me. I don't have high expectations for this generation.
