and the only difference between the 80gig and the 60 gig is the hdd size, nothing else right. or am i missing something here, and if i get the 60 gig hdd, can i hook up a usb external harddrive to it if i run out of room or is sony comming out with a usb hdd?Lach0121

The 80 gig which is coming out in august will have a bigger hdd size and will include motorstorm. the 80 gig will not have the EE chip which is the ps2 hardware, so instead it will use emulation like the european models. You are not guaranteed 100% backwards compatibility but Sony is continuously increase the bacwards compatibility through updates. you can also use an external hdd with the ps3.

see you on psn;)

what makes you so sure that the 680i won't support penryn? i've read many times that penryn doesn't need a vrm update. the next needed vrm update is only for Nehalem which needs a completely new socket. Evga tech Jacob, a trusted and helpful evgatech who has helped many people, has stated many times that the 680i motherboards support penryn with a future bios update(might of been the one that came out yesterday). so unless you have proof that the 680i doesn't support penryn, don't make it seem like it's an outdated piece junk.

i have the 680i too and i love it. i haven't had any problems with and it's a great overclocker. it supports penryn just like like MondoCool said but not ddr3 which is pretty pointless now with its high price and bad timings.

btw MondoCool are you JigglyWiggly from the evga forums? i recognize your sig.

if you want you can get the evga 8800gts 320mb now and then step up to maybe the 640mb or the gtx. Also if you get that motherboard, get the T1 revision instead of the TR because the T1 and A1 allow better overclocking for quads(more futureproof). The motherboard also supports intels new 45nm penryns.

the a1 and t1 are both revisions that allow better overclocking for quad cores. the a1 and ar have extra cables, a manual, and a lifetime waranty where the t1 and tr have fewer cables, no hard copy manual (there is one on cd and you can also download it of the site) and it only has a 1 year waranty or 2 with registration.

i would definetly suggest the quad core revision boards especially since they're the same price. as for t1 and a1, you should get the a1 if you need the extra cables and feel safer with the lifetime warranty.

i currently have the T1 revision and i have never had any problems with it :)

check here for more info or questions http://evga.com/forums/

hope i helped
