Apart from the lack of a hard drive the premium pack doesn't really have much more than the core. I personally prefer a corded controller. You don't get a headset with the core, or the AV cables for a HD setup. If you intend to be an avid 360 gamer I suggest you get the premium however. Since you will probably by the HDD later getting it with the premium will save you some money.
The red ring problem is meant to indicate a lack of hardware. If one of your cables is not plugged in securely you get the red lights. The red lights are basically a diagnosis of some simple do-it-yourself problems.
In summary... buy a 360... it's awesome.
Price?
Blue-ray?
Backward Compatability?
Games?
So far it seems like they totally missed the mark on a lot of things. I'm sure in about a year or so they will get in line but man that's a bad way to get thigns started.

I was under the impression that Sony did do Backward Compatability right. and that Blue-ray was good. and it has been my experience that the 360 library was crap until the following summer, 6 months later. And yes.... the price does suck.
Looks like a smashing good time. Get it... smashing... hehehehahahahahahahAHAHAHAHAHAAA!
But seriously, if i ever find a Wii I'll definitely check that game out when it's released.
