I my self have had this problem. After doing some research I found out that its more common with the 20 and 60 gig models. Part of the problem is that their 1st generation of a new product so they are more subject to problems. Second the main problem has to do with firmware updates (games & system updates). The problem is basically that all the PS3 models are of the same architecture but have different chipsets. So before releasing firmware updates they have to make sure it works on 5 different types of systems (20, 60, 40, and both 80 gigs). The guy basically said that they test them as much as possible but when released problems still occur. This fist update to do it was the 1st GTA 4 update followed by the 2.40 system firmware update. This is why most updates are followed by another one to patch the problems of the previous one but usually they throw in something else to cover it up like the flash support with the last one. The worst thing is that no matter what is wrong with your system Sony charges $150 to fix it. Even if its as small as usb port not working. Unless you are still under their 1yr warranty which requires that you have a receipt for proof of purchase then its free.

No need to get mad at TC for voicing his opinion which is partially fact!! I am a Former Owner of the original 60gb ps3, stood in line which much anticipation. I also Own a 360 (on second one now). I can TRUELY tell you that the PS3 is not what it was hyped up to be YET! It has MASSIVE potential but I dont buy these "investments" for potential, hell I can buy stock for that! I bought the PS3 to GAME and have the BEST GAMING experience out of the three consoles. That unfortunately didnt happen simply because the games (partially developers fault) were lackluster on the PS3 and pollished on the 360 (graphics and features).

Simply put people, you can stay in denial all you want, you can read my previous posts in which i personally tried to justify the greatness of the PS3. But deep down inside you have to admit the future looks dim for the PS3 given the history and current trend of the system. Not trolling but I am relieved that I returned it after a year to best buy and recieved full value of the unit.

You lost me on that one. How is it looking dim?

Yea. I have PS3 40 GB for Christmas last year. Been havin a blast with it, then I noticed it. I looked at my system information, and it said I only had 13 GB left! Christmas hasn't even rolled around again yet, and i've already used over half of my memory. What's the deal?? Is it the demos? By the way, I only have 8 games, so thats not the issue. And if i restored my system memory, would it delete my friends list and account name too, even if i backed up my games and pics? I dont get wats up. help.T-Bone_14
Just upgrade the hard drive. Friends list will stay intact. If you don't back up you will have to reinstall and redownload everything.

So basically in the last year I've kinda splurged on game consoles. I have a Wii and 360, but I was really thinking about saving for a PS3. I had a few concerns, however.. a lot of 360 and PS3 have the same titles, and also PS3 lacks a solid lineup of must-get games (as far as I know). But with LittleBigPlanet coming out (played it on my friend's ps3) and a possibllity of many great PS3 games coming up this Winter Break.. is it worth saving for PS3?

Also, I've heard rumors with Wii and 360 prices so ow, PS3 may be expecting a price cut, what do you guys think about it? Is it gonna happen, and when?

Rizzice1
Yes its worth saving up for and yes there will be a price cut next year.
