Yeah, this news already made my day today.

To those who may not know, Hideo Kojima is the legendary creator of the bestselling Metal Gear Solid series.

One day Hideo Kojima met Tetsuya Nomura (the director of the currently developed Final Fantasy Versus XIII) for dinner. From there, Kojima jokingly/seriously told Nomura that he should develop a remake for the popular Final Fantasy VII.

Perhaps the hope of a VII remake hasn't disappeared after all, but rather there will be a possibility of a remake for Final Fantasy VII.

I found this game to have the deepest and most strategic combat out of the main series entries. This is the first time that you actually had to learn how to fight well. Paradigm building and shifting are skills that come with practice and experience. When people claim they just auto-battle their way through, to me that says that they didn't make it very far into the game cuz they never reached a point where these skills would be relevant. They are particularly key when attempting to 5-star tough enemies. At this point the fight becomes something that you feel your way through because you don't have time to think, you need to react or die. That is why they let you restart fights at anytime, cuz an experienced player knows when they've lost before it happens. Now THAT is deep.

I cannot help but agree with your post. By fighting against time, switching paradigms during situations, and attempting to earn 5-star ratings truly put the word "challenge" into XIII's gameplay. To also top it off, the game is fun too! *Sigh* sometimes, or better yet most of the time, people cannot let go of the past and continue toward to the present and future.

I agree with this. XIII had my favorite cast in the series.

Because it's based on personal preference. I personally liked the character cast from Final Fantasy XIII, including Vanille. Hell even Hope, the supposedly "emo" persona throughout the game, was a good and favorable person because he was a pretty optimistic person. However I liked Final Fantasy X's characters as much as XIII because people like Wakka, Tidus, Yuna, and everyone else had good personal developments and interesting past stories.

Square-Enix mentioned during the 1st Production Premier that XIII-2 will improve upon everything. That means a better story, better combat system, hopefully an open world, and much more.

I doubt Square will make XIII-2 follow the same steps as X-2. After many negative reactions after the release of X-2, Square might've learned their lesson now.

Yep Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been confirmed. :)

This just gave me an idea for a spinoff in an alternate FFXIII universe.

Lightning, Vanille, Fang, and Serah form a band like K-ON! and have silly little misadventures.
