The latest comments of this bogus topicmade it clear.  PS3 is more likely to get a sticky thread about it's reliable console than the one linked above.

i made my decision to get it but there has been a lot of posts that said they were having a lot of problems with there ps3 like for example a lot of people say it keeps getting louder and overheating, the network keeps having problems, and one guy had a blue screen come up and the ps3 would stop working.I just wanted to know if the ps3 had any major problems that i should worry about.

MERC_RECONN

Lots of people are saying this? Where? The Xbox boards or System Wars.;)

Yep!!! I do believe there are some bad ps3's out there, but most of the claims are form people who don't own one. I'm a US launch owner and I have had 0 problems with my console.

They speak the truth.

I smell a troll, I have never heard of PS3 breaking down, and Sony has a 1 year warranty. Also if we compare the noise with the 360, then PS3 is as silent as a ninja, while the 360 is the annoying noise a train makes when arriving at a station.

Remember only one System has a blu-ray drive 50GB of space per disk compared to the 9gb that DVD(9) has. Also the lack of HDD on all 360's is a challenge for developers and it hinders their progress to truly make next generation games (for example GT4).

[QUOTE="gundamfan80"]The worst problem I've ever heard of is someone getting one with a bad spot on the HDD, but thats a gamble you run with any HDD. I've never heard of anyone who had one overheat. the fact is if you go look in the 360 forum you will see that any problems that may have shown up is not even 1/100th as bad as the 360 to date.razzy1

Are you talking about this mess?

Can you imagine getting Halo 3 home, booting it up and suddenly getting the rings of death? Scary:o

WOW!  Thanks for the link, I knew they had it bad but damn.  I posted somewhere that I might get that console if devs kept on making crappy ports in a year,  not anymore!!!

I think a PS3 for 600$ is cheap for somebody with a decent job. PS2 was the same price at launch... How much is the cheapest bluray player? How much for a good snowboard? Some can't have it all, some have to make choices, I bought a PS3 because I hate winter, so I had nothing better to spend my money.

Yes, it makes it hard for those who need to beg their dad to buy one, to them I say, take a deep breath, keep enjoying your PS2 (It's far from dead), the PS3 isn't quite born yet, wait a year or two, it will be even cheaper.

Cellien
I agree 100% with him, If you think about it isent much money unless you dont have a job, Im 15 and you can work in many places where they pay you 400-500 dollars a month just when you are 14 (well a little less then 400-500 if dont work enough hours) Just save a little amount of that money every month and you should have your ps3 in no time, anyways its has awsome exclusives, great online play IMO (u dont have to pay)

You're not even in the most gamers age group (18-30-something). You don't know what it is to be an adult and pay for EVERYTHING yourself..(bills, food, gas, family needs etc etc etc) I enjoyed being a 15 year old boy where my parents paid for my living so I could easily save up money mowing lawns (which I did) and blow $680 on a videogame. Since most people that will be buying a PS3 are older than you.. you speak for a small minority thats makes up MUCH less of the amount of people who can or will actually buy PS3s. So ya.. the PS3 is expensive to the average gamer, and a smack in the face to past Playstation fans such as myself. Wanna play the next Playstation? $600. Insane.

You are delusional and proving it day after day after day.

It's not a massacre to play it on SDTV as some would say, but it is true that the console is "designed" for HD.  It can be a little hard on the eyes reading stuff on a standard tv screen.  Graphics are more than good, they're great, on HD, they're mindblowing (you've seen screens right?).

Got to play SDTV for 3 months, now I'm enjoying HD and I do not intend to go back :)
