Another Year Almost Gone

It is almost the end of 2011. There are so many games I want to play but I just cannot afford to buy them all. Dragon Age II was, for me, a disappointment. I had high expectations since I enjoyed the first game so much. The Kinect is a lot more fun than I expected it to be. It also helps to get the family off of the couch and move around for a while. It makes an excellent choice for family game nights. Mortal Komabt is excellent and takes me back, almost, to when I first started playing MK in the arcades. The graphics seem a little behind but they do not deter from the greatness of the game. For some reason, i find myself constantly playing Borderlands. I have beat the game and expansions at least three times each, but I keep playing. It reminds me of when I would hardly sleep while playing the original Diablo. I need to level up and find better loot. I am anxiously awaiting the sequel to Borderlands.

Have a great rest of the year.

End of the year

2010 was a good year for video games. Some great games were released. There were also quite a few games that should not have been released. It's almost the end of the year and since everyone enjoys lists, here are my lists for best games and the most disappointing games I have played this year. These are based solely on my gameplay opinion of the games.

While these are decent games, I found them to be the Most Disappointing games this year. I guess I expected more from these games. The winners are:

5-Final Fantasy XIII

4-BioShock 2

3-Fable III

2-Lego Harry Potter

1-Crackdown 2

My favorite games of this year are:

5-Super Street Fighter 4

4-Darksiders

3-Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions

2-Fallout: New Vegas

1- Mass Effect 2

There's my list. Happy New Year.

XBOX 360 Red Rings

Just six months after purchasing my 360, it was plagued with a red ring error. Not the widely publicized 3 red rings of death, but an error that I had not heard of. Luckily, my system was under warranty and was repaired. A year later, my system is plagued with constant overheating. I can not play a game for more than 10 minutes before I have a system failure. Setting up a reapir order online is a joke so I called customer service. I was informed that my system is out of warranty for that particular issue and a repair would cost $119.99. Are you kidding me? It's not like they're unaware of all the issues with their system. if I didn't own so many 360 games, I probably would have purchased a PS3, however, I have the new 360 en route which is supposed to have safeguards against the problems of it's predecessor. I have also heard that they removed the red lights from the power button. Either they're confident in the new system, or they don't want any more red rings of death. Time will tell if I made the right purchase.

Used Games

I so enjoy buying used games. I just bought Darksiders and Assassins Creed II for the 360. If it wasn't for used games, I would rarely buy them. I had heard a rumor that companies were trying to make it so used games would no longer be an option. I hope that rumor is unfounded. With the higher prices of new games, it's nice to have a less expensive alternative. I might not have the latest game right away, but a good game is a good game no matter when you play it. Thanks to all the people who trade in their games so I am able to enjoy them when you are done.

My least favorite Final Fantasy Characters.

I got to thinking about the Final Fantasy Characters that I used only when I had to. It's my list, so I don't need to justify it.

1. Edward (Spoony Bard) - FF IV

2. Locke - FF VI

3. Gau - FF VI

4. Cait Sith - FF VII

5. Irvine - FF VII

6. Eiko - FF IX

7. Freya - FF IX

8. Kimhari - FF X

9. Wakka - FF X

10. Fran - FF XII

11. Vaan - FF XII

12. Hope - FF XIII

There are other lame characters in the series, but I was just going for the playables.

My Ultimate Final Fantasy Roster

I'm playing FF XIII and was thinking how cool it would be if I could play with my all time favorite characters from the series.

1. Thief/Ninja - Final Fantasy

2. Cecil - FF IV

3. Kain - FF IV

4. Cyan - FF VI

6. Shadow - FF VI

7. Cloud - FF VII

8. Squall - FF VIII

9. Vivi - FF IX

10. Auron - FF X

11. Lightning - FF XII

Those are my picks. I think they would make an unstoppable team. People will disagree, but it's my list, not theirs.

Final Fantasy XIII

I just started playing the new Final Fantasy. It is freakin' awesome. The graphics are amazing. The environments are detailed, the effects and lighting look amazing, and the characters are the best I've seen. The battle system is new and in my opinion improved. You can choose auto battle which lets you watch all the amazing stuff that is happening, or you can manually enter your battle commands. i am excited to play Final Fantasy again and I expect great things from this entry.

Street Fighter IV Online

I really enjoy playing SFIV online. It reminds me of being in the arcade back in the day. What I don't like is how almost every match turns into a game of how fast the other person can shoot off fireballs. It might be "fun" for you, but it is a cheap cop out in my opinion. Apparently, you have no skill and must try to win by doing the same move over and over as fast as you can. How exciting. hope you have fun with the one move you can do. I'll still be playing with non-fireball characters and improving my skill.

Waiting for Bioshock 2

I pre-ordered Bioshock 2 and I am impatiently waiting for it. If they have improved on the game-play of the first in any way, the game should be a 10 in my book. The first Bioshock had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was especially tense when I was fighting a splicer and accidentally hit a Big Daddy. It was a near perfect game in my opinion. I hope the sequel will be equal or better.

Bad camera is so annoying!

I am so tired of having a bad camera in a video game. Getting killed by somebody off screen. Not being able to see the action because a wall is blocking your view. This is 2010. This problem should be fixed. I understand that there may be minor glitches in games. There is a lot that goes into making/building a game and not everything gets caught. Camera is not a minor glitch, it's a major game-play factor. I am begging developers or who ever is responsible for the camera in games, please make sure it enhances the game, not hinder. Off my box now.
