Yeah, but it won't be the same quaility company making the games. If you like Halo, and Bungie is GOOD at making Halo, will you want someone like Atari making Halo if Bungie went out?

As I said, if Bungie get bankrupt, or if MS got bankrupt and Bungie was gone, sony will probably buy out MS, or MS the Bungie portion of MS and you have teh same talent, with all the Halo licsence, same quality, just different start up screen

That's assuming that all of the employee's come back and assuming MS will sell that portion. When Nintendo sold Rare not all of the employees continued working with M$. Hence, the lack in quaility of games.

Sales MATTER to a certain extent. They may not matter to you, but they matter to a WHOLE bunch of other people.

Another thing. Say if a Company comes out with a game you thought it was a really good game, but not many people agree with you. The most reason for a game to get a sequel is becasue of high game sales which leads to profit. If the games sells like crap and doesn't make the company any money they aren't going to make a sequel anytime soon.

Generally, no, sale do not matter -- as long as you make money, like Nintendo did with the 3rd place GC.
They matter when your previous gen is outselling your current high-end gen, like what is happening with the PS3. Especially when you make no money on the console and you need to make up for that loss by selling a lot of machines so people buy a lot of software -- this is even more critical for the PS3, where currently there is normally one 1 title purchased with each PS3 sold (unlike the Wii where there is normally 2 titles purchased, not including the free game).

But the sales and the attach rate of the console will affect the developer's decison in making a game for the console. If the system isn't selling as well as the compition, there will be less good 3rd party games for it. (See Gamecube)

Just becasue the company is making money off of it doesn't mean the other companies will.

No, Sales means just about EVERYTHING to a certain extent. If a company puts millions upon millions developing a console and then it sells like crap and they don't make money, then they won't be in a very good sitiuation for the rest of the generation. If the system sells good, then that generally means it will cause more profit as well as better games and more games for the system because it can maximize the developer's profit.

Yes, if oyu had stocked on the company, then I agree. But as an average joe that hs no say in anything that matters in the gaming world, then who gives a rats ass.

If you want the company to continue making hardware and/or games then you SHOULD care. It is kinda of hard to make a console when your bankrupt you know. And even if you aren't totally bankrupt and you still make games tou overall quality of the games decrease to to the lack of excess money.

So say if MS stop making consoles, like isn't over, I will just buy the next consle that puts out the best game, and has hardware that can compete.

If you're the kind of person who doesn't really care who makes the games or consoles then they don't matter a s much. But look at it from most people's perspective.

How would you feel if Nintendo when bankrupt and left the gaming industry forever taking many of their IPs with them? No more Mario, Zelda, SSB,Pokemon, ect. I personally would hate that. I would hate it if any of the Big 3 were to leave. Becasue they all make quality hardware.

You see, its business, if a compnay is gone, another company will buy it, and all those IPs will just go to a new console, and developers? Its al l about m oney, if one company doesn't support th ey move on.
