"Active Time Battle Wait (ATB Wait) makes a return in the remake. As in the original, your ATB meter fills over time, but will also speed up as you land successful basic attacks on enemies. Once your meter is full, you can then effectively stop time and enter tactical mode to issue advanced commands, whether it's casting spells, using items, or activating limit break super moves"
Like others here, i was very apprehensive about the gameplay, but I like what I read above. The fact that the ATB makes a return and there is a wait for it to fill (like in the original), and that you can stop time when it's full, so you can take your time to decide what to do next is awesome. I've always enjoyed turned-based battle mechanics more in FF games, and RPGs in general. Granted, it doesn't sound like this is fully turn-based, but it's better than what we've had since FFXII.
@edinko: I disagree. Pokemon is owned by Nintendo. They have every right to protect their IP. They've put in a lot of work into developing it to what it is today. You can't just take it and benefit from it, financially or otherwise. Plus, unauthorized works of art (which is what a game is) dilute the original vision of the IP holder.
Like many other people here are saying, I don't understand why they have to completely change well established, beloved characters. They can meet the diversity quota by simply adding new, original ones. Sounds like more political correctness pandering. It's sad when art falls victim to politics and social norms of the day.
So they wanted to make a mini-Skyrim with dirty and gritty art style, roughed up looking chocobos, and some FFXII characters thrown in and then wondered why it got canceled?! That's not Final Fantasy, that's why.
@normanislost That's nonsense. The same argument was used about 10 years ago about FPS games, "Ohh well, that'll never work on a console. You can't play FPS with a controller. It can ONLY work with mouse and keybard", etc. It turns out you can, as now consoles are the predominant platform for FPSs.
@wexorian @Raidenwins0 Yea, you can. There was a Civilization port for PS3 and it worked fine with a controller. Console games get patches all the time these days. For example, I play Injustice: Gods Among Us. There has been 4-5 patches already.
