Well im buying a new Quad core rig but i cant decide on what motherboard to buy. I have a choice of a pcie 2.0 crossfire board or an pcie sli board. The thing is the decision will effect the graphic cards I buy. Im really leaning toward the ati cards because they interegrate with my HDTV so well with hdmi sound they have on their cards. plus they are alot of cheap options on crossfire but the crossfire board cost alot more than the sli board since its pcie 2.0. And i dont want the samething to happen to me when AGP cards went out. If i buy the sli board and everyone switches over to pcie 2.0 i will have to upgrade in another year or two. If you guys can come up with a good mid range sli combination that will help me alot to decide. My old pc could run my games on high so i would like that performance again but i dont want to pay alot for it. Also the mid range nvidia card are still kind of high compared to ati cards. So its pay now or later but the sale on the rig goes out in 2 days so i have to decide quickly. Any suggestions.

Sony just recalled 400,000 Vaio's! Well i guess the cant laugh at Microsoft hardware problems anymore. If i spent 1000 plus dollars on a pc and it broke i would be pissed. Karma is crazy apparently the PC's are OVERHEATING. I wonder how much money will it cost for Sony to fix this. If this tops Microsoft billion dollar tag on 360's, then Sony is really going to be feeling the heat with it loosing so much money on Ps3.

Sony needs to stop updating so much! I bought my PS3 last year and just like alot of you guys my warranty is now expired. Well my PS3 got bricked about 6 months ago by a PS3 firmware update. I lost all of my sweet guns i had unlocked for RFOM my game saves for Ratchet and Uncharted.Sony told me if i couldnt find my original receipt it would cost me 160 for a repair. This confused me because Microsoft uses my serial number to see if my warranty was valid when i had to turn in my 3 360's.Now that my PS3 warranty is expired now that 160 dollars doesn't look so good.

The fact that the PS3 has to rewrite their entire OS each time it updates is only asking for trouble. Everytime i turn on my PS3 or buy a new game I dont sign on to PSN because i know an update is just sitting there waiting for me xbox 360 updates only take about 20 seconds. For one thing i dont want to wait to play my Shiny new game like MGS4 or wondering will this update break my system.

Sony really needs to find a way around this problem.Because i really got burned on the PS2 it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Sony customer service had me absolutely furious when they would always try to charge me 90 or 120 bucks to fix my system. The faulty launch system i got and the 4 other faulty ones i would buy over the ps2 lifetime. After my 5 and final console burned up right in the middle of GTA San andreas i've had enough at that point. Ive got tired of having to open my PS2 and turning little wheels to make the console work or sneaking old consoles into walmart boxes and returning them for a new console. Because i refused to pay sony anymore money. At least microsoft took responsibility for their faulty product but i think sony is preparing to do it to me all again. The last firmware update caused problems with several peoples systems hopefully none of their systems got bricked like mine did but with theses constant updates and software not being sony's strong point it's only a matter of time. I think sony my have to offer a free extended warranty system as well when it comes to someone system being broken from firmware updates because it's beyond the consumers control.

"Most xbox 1 fans will tell you the frustration about having to suffer inferior games because of the PS2 being the lead skew eventhough the xbox was the superior hardware."

In this case the ps3 is the more powerfull hadware so whats the problem?

MassiveKaos

Because 360 is the larger install base and the larger volume of games sold.

Mirror's edge is seemingly following the example of Burnout Paradise according to several magazines. If Multiplats start being ps3 lead because of the difficulty of developing for the PS3 will it cause a backlash in the xbox 360 community. Many would say the PS3 Burnout looked better because of the ps3 uncompressed textures. And while developing on the ps3 first saves developers the hassle of the extra development time of making the ps3 second. Could this be hurting the 360 version and cause 360 fans to sit these titles out.

Most xbox 1 fans will tell you the frustration about having to suffer inferior games because of the PS2 being the lead skew eventhough the xbox was the superior hardware. It also raises the question whether developing on PS3 first prevents developers from using the lossless compression tech inside the 360. Microsoft has been dumbfounded why developers are having so many compression problems on the 360. it begs the question whether they are not familiar with the tech and aren't utilizing it.

With 360 being the larger install base thus far it will be interesting to see whether 360 fans will tolerate being second banana in developers eyes this generation and will it hurt overall game sales. And since multiplat s overwhelming sell better on 360 will the developers pay the price in the end.

Delete some you're not playing then :|

Also... what the hell does RAM have to do with streaming data of discs? It's the blu-ray2x 8.5mb/s constant readspeed compared to the DVD12x 12.5mb/s max read speed.

thrones

That information has to be loaded into memory first before it can be used that fast ram is loading it faster than Blu ray can.

Im sorry but i was looking at my HDD space and im going to be out soon. I bought a 60 G at 600 bucks and i only have 20 G left. When i checked my memory i noticed games like MGS 4 has 4.5 gigs installed, DMC 4 has 3.5, Unreal has 3 gig, NGS has about 3 or 4 GIG's . All of my games are using anywhere from 1 to 5 Gigs of space. But its and average of 3 Gigs used. I've returned Ratchet and Uncharted so im not sure how much they used but this cant go own. And yes i know i can get a bigger hard drive but that rounded PS3 top doesnt allow me to place something up there and then i have to find a place to plug the thing up. I already have my 360 in there with my PS3 i dont have anymore room in that cabinet .The 360 and PS3 heats up the room enough.

I think that's why the 360 will get away with not having a hard drive this generation. Because it will force the developer to use the hardware. Xbox does have the better streaming tech built in. that 256G/s Eram in the 360 allows for great streaming off disk. But the developer need too get off Epic's Unreal 3 because this middleware crap isn't the best way to utilized either console.

From team xbox

The name "embedded DRAM" is used because the memory is embedded directly onto a chip. The advantage of embedded RAM is that it offers a speed and bandwidth far superior to conventional out-of-the-chip memory. Think of it as comparing system memory (your computer RAM) with a microprocessor's cache memory.

Is any one else cringing about how many games they have to buy this year.

twinsfan12

who is forcing you to buy games?

I have the money it's just gonna hurt like that 600 dollars i spent for my PS3. With all the great games i'm going to buy them. And i dont play games late the appeal is gone after a few months.

But it isn't so bad my local games store has a great trade in policy. They dont rip you off like EB. I've gotten 30 dollars of trade in credit on lots of the games i trade in.
