@TomMcShea @war80 Ultimately it comes down to this. People in the social media age are only truly happy when they're complaining.

They complain about the glut of FPS games and yearly Call of Duty releases, yet unusual games that try to break out of that mold don't sell, and COD makes a half-billion within 24 hours of launch.

They complain about content they're given for free because they don't like the content they're being given ... for free.

I'm guilty as charged in that level of complaining. That said, consider this ...

I'm not a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series. For me personally, I find crime simulators unappealing. However, I have never said a bad thing about the series, because I don't want someone who values my opinion to possibly miss out on something they well may enjoy just because I have a personal grudge against it.

The complaints being lodged here refer to a huge deduction for what appears to be a personal distaste for the control scheme in a game that is otherwise identical to its higher-rated siblings.

I would ask for a second opinion from someone who actually likes touch-screen gaming, but I do think war80 has it right. Mr. McShea has offered his opinion, I can mentally adjust it based on my interpretation of how his opinion was generated (I do the same thing with movies, after all), and get on with life.

@ChiefFreeman @RandyAU93 @Necrotron My Wii U sits proudly beside my Xbox 360, taking the place of the Wii that sat beside the 360 until the U's arrival. I'll still get the Wii U version, since after revising the score for CSDS (Control Scheme Derangement Syndrome - a disorder where reviews are skewed based on an individual reviewer's distaste for an unusual or different control mechanism ... Jeft G. had a bad case of it when the original Wii launched) and after playing the free Challenges App, which prominently features the touch-screen levels, it's the best of the bunch, no question.

@ChiefFreeman I own both an Xbox 360 and a Wii U, but I'll be getting the definitive version of the game ... for the console for which the game was designed ... Wii U.

@yavix Just had an epiphany. The Wii U version actually requires you to control the character using the GamePad's touchscreen. In order to port to the other consoles, which didn't have touchscreens as standard equipment, Ubisoft had to revise the game and just use a button press.

So they apparently prefer the dumbed-down version over the definitive version. That speaks volumes ...

@Necrotron @RandyAU93 I checked the review. He gave Pikmin 3 an 8 and whined about the controls, just like he did here. The review reads almost exactly the same as the 9.0 Xbox/PS3 versions, except for when he's gnashing his teeth about the levels that utilize the GamePad's touch-screen.

@Necrotron Because the reviewer is biased against the console upon which he's reviewing the game.

@Bigboi500 I'll be buying the Wii U version, because that's the console the game was made for. Apparently Tom hasn't played the Challenges App ... I think the Murfy stages are the best of that group of free games we've been playing for months and the ports will never get.

@JBStone1981 @Sefrix That would be analogous to the way most download services work. When you download it, it's part of your account profile. You can do with it whatever you wish, including delete it, but you will still be able to re-download the title at no charge since you bought it (or redeemed an offer for it) already.
