The P2W arguement is fair enough, but I wouldnt call it a mechanically a bad game.

The game's biggest problem for me is the itemization, but the actual combat mechanics are good and since I dont mind being unpopular, I will also state that the game's character build system (passive and active skills) is far more interesting than Path of Exile's convoluted but still woefully shallow skill puddle.

The Itemization in a game like this however, can very easily be a game breaker and unfortunately it was what made me lose interest in the game anyway, but the game's overall mechanics were good, but the itemizaiton was a killing blow.

Maroxad

How is Path of Exile skill tree shallow? It has a freaking skill...forest. Also, please explain why Diablo 3 has better mechanics than Path of Exile.

The only thing worth-looking forward to is the the CGI cinematics.

Just because you have a lot of choices doenst mean you have a lot of depth. For most of the part, what skills to pick in the skill tree are usually really obvious and insignifcant. Just pick the stuff to stack your health. The only really interesting skills to pick are the keystone skills. The rest are both too insignificant and too obvious on what to pick.

When it comes to builds and build making, depth comes from the number of VIABLE choices, NOT the number of choices.

As for mechanics, unless they changed the combat significantly. The combat in PoE is still spam your best skill and use the occational utility skill. At least in Diablo 3 you have skills and synergy between your various active skills.

Well-said. I surrender. Now you go to the PoE's official forum and you'll see that  to the dwellers there, POE is the best in sub-genre. Every mention of D3 or Blizzard entails hate.

Who is the Reaper of Souls? Still, Blizzard writers suck. The Reaper, I insist, is a far more appropriate title. Or just A Soul's Bane, Death Bringer...or Bringer of Death....

ChubbyGuy40

All of your title suggestions are terrible.

When I said generic, I meant it's not really describing much. It could mean the Naga and Azshara, could be some vague hint to what we could find in the Emerald Dream, it could even have something to do with the Twsited Nether.

Why not just name it: Agents of Sargeras? Since, after all, they are all agents of Sargeras.

I'm not really seeing how any of that is well written when compared to what they came up with.

Okay: Sickles of Death.

Dark Below is all but confirmed to be the next WoW expansion, and no, it won't be the last. Anyone playing for more than a day could tell you they're setting up Sargeras as the last expansion. Dark Below implies Azshara, IE underwater or beneath the earth expansion.

Vaasman

No it isnt. Nor will it be. That image if geniune, says book of tyrael on it which makes it diablo 3.

[QUOTE="princeofshapeir"]What? Blizzard trademarked "The Dark Below" some hours before the teaser site for "Reaper of Souls" went up. It's likely that "The Dark Below" is the name of the next WoW expansion. ChubbyGuy40

MMO-champion had another article today about how easy it is to apply for applications under any company. For example, someone did Corgis Unlimited under Blizzard today, and that was obviously a joke to prove it. The Dark Below doesn't sound bad, but it does sound kinda generic for a Blizzard expansion.

What Blizzard expansion title is not generic? Almost all of them sound mega-cheesy and generic, except for The Burning Crusade, The Frozen Throne, and Brood War.

What? Wrath of the Lich King? ( Arthas's End, Assault on the Frozen Throne)

Mist of Pandaria? (Veil of Pandaria, The Emperor's Mist are better)

Heart of the Swarm? (Kerrigan's Resolve, Mengsk's Bane are better alternatives)

Legacy of the Void? ( Void, The Golden Armada, Children of the Void are better)

Reaper of Souls? Hahaaha...Simply The Reaper is better and scarier,

The Dark Below? Why not the Bellowing Dark? The Utter Darkness?

No you stop. You are always spouting the same crap over and over again whenever there's a new CGI for any game that is not from blizzard. No one gives a flying crap about you or your obsession with blizzard cgi. This thread is not for you and your hard-on for blizzard, so get out.

I've been on gamespot for many years and not once have seanmcloughlin acted like the way you described. You on the other hand repeat the same rubbish over and over again whenever there is a thread about a new game's cgi trailer. It's been a long time since I responded to any of your crap, and the only reason why I'm doing so is because you flat out lie and make up crap.

Pathetic. Grow the hell up.

P.S The trailer looked amazing. Best CGI trailer so far. If you disagree, that's your problem.

xWoW_Rougex

What? I praise CGI that is good-looking, be it from Blizzard, Blur, Digic, Axis, or Square's Visual Works.

This one was made by Platid Image. It does not look as good as the most recent CGI from the mentioned studios.

I don't get it. When the Cyberpunk trailer was announced you were pretty much advertising this company and now, now you write that their CGI is inferior?!

The problem is, the developer didn't pay well enough  for Platid Image to fully spread their wings when making both trailers. CGI is expensive.

Had the developer been Bioware, Bethesda, or Ubisoft, I reckon the trailers would have come out better-looking.

The POE tree is shallow, you have to take 90% path nodes for the few nodes u actually need. Only a handful of proven builds actually work at end game. At this point it seems like a cookie cutter build game, feel free to try your own builds only to hit the wall in merc, either by gear or not enough life/armor nodes. Melee in POE sucks compared to Ranged because they are exactly the same, melee gets no damage reduction, same as ranged, yet has to fight close up. POE could be great but is a hell of a ways off right now, oh and the gear drops suck just as bad as d3'd. game is totally dependent on trading and grouping once u hit merc. I have a level 70 and a few 60's, I had more fun farming in d3, and we all know d3's drops were shit. Poe dosent have a excuse for the shit drops, no AH, they are just shit. I think GGG thinks they can keep people longer this way, dont think so. LOl at developers making loot based games that dont drop any worth while loot.

But why are people praising it everywhere? I see animosity towards Diablo 3 and praise for Path of Exile on almost every gaming site/forum I visit.

Pay to Win? What exactly is there to win? It's a single player/co-op game.

Maroxad

With that logic there is no such thing as winning a game. Pay to win game, AND it's mechanically a bad game. lol

It's a trailer meant to hype you for the game. not for people to step away from and go "That's some great CG" It achieved what it set out to do which is show a slight scenario from the game and show off what they want you to expect from Geralt's fighting. It's also to hype you for the game and it seems to have worked with many people in this thread

I'm sure if they had a HUGE team with butt loads of money and lots of time to spare they would have done it better like Blizzard do but why bother? The end product won't look like CG so just use decent CG for the trailer and save the money and man hours trying to make it better for finnicky dudes like you who scrutinize every detail

Holy hell that was one of the best cinematics I have ever seen.

In terms of what? Animation? Detail? The D3 expansion cinematic will blow it away visually.
