[QUOTE="Real3motion"] Hmm, but you guys still haven't answered my question exactly:
My TV now does two things:
1. if my PS3 display setting is 480p, 720p, 1080i. All my games run at 720p instead of 1080i.
2. How can I make my games run at maximum resolution (1080i) instead of 720p?
I have tried to limit the display option to 1080i only, but it doesn't work that well. ONly ninja Gaiden runs at 1080i, others run at 480i.
My updates is at 1.82 no doubt. So anything in the settings that I am missing?

If the game is 720p the PS3 can't upscale them to 1080i. If you you turn off 720p then it will default to 480p. Some future games will come with built-in upscalers to get around the current PS3 hardware limitation. But that kind of feature is mainly meant for those that have a 1080i tv that can't accept 720p, so in the past those people are stuck with 480p even though they have 1080i. Ninja Gaiden is a 1080p game, so it also supports 1080i and 720p, as all 1080p games.
But again, your tv has a resolution of 768p, why are you trying to get all your games to run at 1080i? Didn't my post explain anything? 1080i limits to 30fps, so why try to use it, force your tv to downscale to 768p at 30fps when you can instead just run games at 720p at a max of 60fps? Not to mention any loss in quality from the deinterlacing process for 1080i, which when fast motion happens can be as low-res as 540p.
You explained well, indeed. I just wanted to see if there would be any differences between 720p and downscaled 1080i.
And it seems to me by default all my games run at 720p, including Ninja Gaiden. Isn't PS3 supposed to adjust the output automatically for me based on the games? Ninja Gaiden in my case should set as 1080i, not 720p.
All my Blku- ray movies run at 1080i as well.
Ok, so to be exact, I just want to know how to change the display format, when I dun like the fromat chosen by PS3? e.g change from 1080i to 720p or the other way around. (assuming games or movies can support it)
