How do these guys stay so consumer friendly, in this industry full of pirates and corporate greed? Nothing but admiration & respect. I wish I could support them more, aside from buying their games.
True, it was pretty safe, in terms of next gen innovation, but it was also one of their best conferences in recent memory. This is coming from a Sony fanboy.
I think Tom's written review was fine and it highlighted the same flaws that many of the other reviewers did. It's just that most of the others thought that, despite it's flaws, it was a brilliant game. Tom didn't and thought it was just 'great'.
I'm not a fan of worshipping a game when it comes out because, as it often turns out, most games don't really deserve such universal acclaim. I thought GTA4, Skywards Sword and Bioshock Infinite, to name a few, were overrated and most reviews didn't highlight any sort of flaws at all. No game should be untouchable. And I don't even know why I started writing this comment in the first place.
Even if this genre has been done to pieces before, if it's Naughty Dog, I'll always give it a shot. Whatever the gameplay is like, or what the mechanics are, they know how to make interesting characters and relationships. Especially in-game relationships.
