Why is everyone pissing about it being chunky and awkward, etc? It adds one inch to a controller that's pretty dang small to begin with. The odds of this adding any weight you'd perceive is slim to nill, so it adds nothing to the portion you actually hold unless you have an extremely weird way to hold remotes, and if that is the case then getting a controller that works right is the least of your worries.

I don't doubt this (when PROPERLY used) will clean up the sticky issues that plague Wii games. I just hope there are a LOT of games at E3 that use it and use it well to generate a buzz over it's value.

PC really kicks ass, but this is also a top of the line PC. A bar that is constantly moving not only as a whole, but as individual components evolve if you're the sort into building their own. (PS3 was touting that future-proof line, but even still) A truly "fair" comparison is either equivalent hardware, or whatever was top of the line when PS3 came out (Xbox doesn't get this ride because it's supposed to compete with PS3). Of course, while some of the issues with darkness is how the consoles handle shadowing, some of it has got to be brightness settings, which can be changed by the player.

"..the 360 has lagged far behind the Wii and the PS3 in terms of sales." Lagged? 360 has yet to sell a million in Japan! They lost their year head start to both rivals in months. Any worse and the country could ride out the generation with unsold stock.

Another update already? Yeesh. Aw well, a nicer screen is good. I wonder what they'll call it to reflect the change. PSP Bright?

At least they're adding some weight to it. I'm not surprised the backlog's support would be fair at best. The real issue is new games making decent use of rumble (they haven't been with tilt and may not now that they have rumble again). My irritation is not they took so long, because they legally couldn't have gone faster without Immersion saying so, I dislike the lies in E3 '06 to cover. Instead of a simple admission we got "they couldn't possibly mix tilt and rumble together"... right next door to the Wii remote that had both. Not cool sony, not cool.

I can't speak of the Wii's lifespan, though I expect Nintendo can keep it going the full 5 year term if they wanted to. My bigger concern is the direction they take the Wii's successor. In my personal opinion, an advanced (read: more powerful) form of the Wii is more adept than another innovation. I figure by then they'd would be able to do a fair step up at less expense than Sony or Mircrosoft took this generation.

I don't know. It doesn't look like it really shaved much load time off (if at all on some games). If they were going to market it as an improvement, I'd like to see a drop by half or third, not seconds. Control tweaks are nice but unless they take care to make games specifically around PSP so they don't feel like they need a second stick, that will still always be a haunting issue (especially on PS/PS2 ports). The output might be nice if I had UMDs, but they're basically no-frills DVD's. I already have several DVD players. If I'm going to use a TV... I see the biggest boon of this redesign is the battery life, but mostly if you're willing to spring for the modified plate and use the old model batteries. It's not like there'll be choice for new people, but I agree with Gamespot; this would not be trading up.

If they put more effort into how they're organizing, I wouldn't mind a repeat of this version.

Not the jump DS to DS Lite was, but admittedly they has less to go. Visually, the original was always approved (as far as I know), so it's cool they focused on it's technical problems. You can never go wrong tweaking battery life, and reducing load times deserves major props. Now if only they had enough games I really wanted...
