[QUOTE="trix5817"]

I just read an article in the Detroit Free Press about Great Lakes Crossing (a HUGE mega-mall) had 140 job openings. Guess how many applicantions they got? 11. 11 applications for 140 jobs. And out of these 11 people who showed up for the interview, most of them came with torn shirts, late, etc, etc. And this is in Michigan, one of the worst , if not now the worst economy in the U.S. I guess people are too good for those jobs....

markop2003

i've seen that as a problem too, people don't take jobs because they're not exactly what they want, there are the jobs available just people won't take them

I agree with you on this to some extent. If we were really in a depression and the unemployment rate was high, EVERY RETAIL job would be taken. But its not. If people were truly in a financial crisis, they would be in Walmart bagging groceries, instead of being unemployed for 2 months and constantly B***hing about how bad the economy is.

But from personal experience, I can tell one of the main reasons why many people dont apply to jobs is because of the ridiculous requirements and qualifications that employers are looking for. Also most people who are in charge of hiring people, dont know jack about the position they are hiring for. It really ticks me off.

Im in a Computer and Networking field, and some of the requirements for the jobs I see REQUIRE a 4 year degree, 3-5 years experience in a field, 2 different types of certs and etc. Now this may seem reasonable for senior level and management level jobs, but there are entry level jobs requiring this type of qualifications. These jobs requires knowledge that can be taught in a month. Someone who has done this stuff in a basement would even be more than enough for these positions.

But here's a different story. A friend of mine who did 4 years in the military, has 2 year degree, and has the required certifications, applies to this job that only requires a high school diploma and common computer knowledge. My friend also has great interviewing skills and dresses up too. HE DIDNT GET THE JOB! Why? They said he wasnt qualified. This company also had 20+ openings, and was understaffed. Companies just have idiots working for them in hiring and management levels. They get themselves in those situations.

Well I would like to say thank you for the people who pay taxes. Because of you, I was able to get financial aid money to help pay my tuition for college. I have my associate's degree and later planning to get a BA, but first I'm saving some money up. Also thank you for for supporting my widowed grandmother, who pays with foodstamps. She's now living comfortably in an apartment which my family helps pay for. The main reason why I wouldnt mind paying extra taxes (first I would have to make 250,000+ a year :P) is because Im a person who benefited from it. My dad owned his own hat company. After 9/11, his company went bankrupt (including ourselves), we sold everything and managed to live in an small apartment.

What makes me sad about most people who posted here who dont want to "spread the wealth", as they put it, is that they're forsaking one group of people who can benefit from it (like how I did) because of another group of "lazy people" who dont strive to achieve are receiving the same thing.

Well my 76 year old grandma cant strive to achieve, obviously, and my cousing who is in special education programs to say the least cant strive to achieve either. True that lazy people, who were brought up that way by their parents and community, dont deserve that money, but once again I would still pay taxes if it helped someone truly in need.

If you are someone who is making 6 figures but dont want to pay higher taxes because of the lazy people who would benefit from it, then by all means create a better plan and run for president.

For those people who keep on saying "It aint right for them to get ANY of my hard earned money", well there are people working harder than you who make less then you, and probably give you the ability to work at all in the first place. These same people dont have the capabilities to achieve due to VARIOUS REASONS such as health and financial. God forbid we try to help them out .

Edit: Also on the charity part, Charity organizations target only a selected number of groups in certain areas. Taxes go nation wide. I also dont recall a "Fund redmasterdx's college tuition" charity lol.

If I'm making 6 figures, I could care less about a tax increase just for me. I really doubt that taxes would bring me down to something like 50k a year also.

If Im making that type of money, then I dont mind giving some away to help better the country for the future generations, especially for my family.

yea its done. Like said in the other thread I think the only way Obama will lose is because some Americans cant get over race or are just idiots believing hes a terrorist or Muslim. McCain was done when he picked the tool that is Sarah Palin. Tjeremiah1988

I really hope that those americans who believe that he's a terrorist will stay home. It really annoys me people are just feeding off of the stuff about Obama's relationship with Acorn and Ayers. They think that just because he worked with Ayers on stuff for the community that he shares the same view as Ayers. And its really fustrating that people are voting for McCain based off of this misconception.

Can someone please clarify to me how McCain could of won this debate? Not being sarcastic or anything, I just fail to see key arguments that McCain won.

Obama cleared his past history with his "controversial" relationships. McCain kept on nagging on him about them which didnt make him look good when Obama clearly proved him wrong. He even gave out some good names with people he associated with.

Obama actually gave out some clear information about how he is going to prioritize things, McCain just gave a general "we can do both/all", which to me doesnt seem, well, smart? IMO, isnt it better to concentrate at one thing that's the toughest and has a chance to make everything else easier then it is to try and tackle everything else at once?

McCain kept on saying that Obama is doing a crap load of spending, but Obama kind of said that he's making investments. There's a difference between investing and spending people. Obama also said he was going to do reforms as well, which McCain completely ignored when he said Obama was just spending.

From http://www.ntu.org/main/press.php?PressID=1061&org_name=NTUF, it says BOTH McCain and Obama's plans spend more than they cut, with probably Obama spending more. It seems kind of hypocritical that McCain attacks Obama about spending when he's doing the same. But like I said before, Obama puts it off as investments.

McCain still hasnt really describe the effects both short-term and long-term of his spending freeze. Even those organizations that Obama described said that it wasnt a good plan. I take the opinion of different groups of analyst over joe-blow who only constantly watches the news and thinks he knows a thing or 2.

Obama is going to raise taxes on people making over $200,000 a year? OH NO!!!!!!! Guess they're going to have wait another year for their yacht, poor thangs. Oh and wait! He still is managing to help small businesses! And BIG businesses who can afford health insurance for their employees will get penalized, which is good for many, bad for a greedy CEO.

The health benefit part, Im not going to touch because Obama won that.

For the energy part, I think Obama won. Like he said, "we cant rely on drilling our way out". He still said he was going to look into offshore drilling, and even said he would take away the land that the oil companies are not using. McCain still played a deaf ear to this and still got on his case. McCain sounded more reliant on offshore drilling and nuclear energy. The problem with nuclear energy though is the waste you get from it. As far as I know there is no way to get rid of it, just temporary areas to hold it.

Obama also talked about having America start creating new technologies such as fuel efficient cars and such, which would lead to more jobs in America and more exporting and less importing. McCain didnt go into depth about it.

The only valid thing going for McCain is that he stands up for the people and fights for what he believes in, and Obama is not that experienced. And Obama's past relationships doesnt give him a clean record. My friend keeps on arguing this point to me, saying that Obama is just a lier and talking to get the people's favor, and McCain is more trustworthy. He also argues that Obama's positions for policies such as being against funding troops in Iraq is wrong. My counter arguement to this is that when McCain mentions these things, he leaves out the whole detail of the entire policy. Obama tells why he was against it saying it did not give a withdraw date for the troops. So its either come back home sooner, or last longer fighting a war (which IMO we went for the wrong reasons, but still should be fought because of the good that comes out of it.).

Obama may not be experienced or "trustworthy" as McCain, but he surrounds himself with credible people. If he earned their trust, why cant he earn mine? Besides, you cant get away with anything when your the president of the USA, all eyes are on you :P.

I posted this with the intent of someone proving me wrong with something reasonable. I did not post this with the intent to smash McCain or support Obama. Thank you for your time if you do. Also Im not a registered voter :P

why do these companies make it so ezy for u to pirate maybe they should make it harder for people to put these games on computers and servers

coltss

Well companies like Sony only have a set number of developers and programmers to secure the psp and the games. Its the same with everyother system/handheld. But then you have a limitless number of hackers who are of equal skill who are exploiting the PSP. Its an on-going battle between the 2 that never ends, and its pretty much "Insert Company Name" vs. the world. So they didnt make it easy, its just they have a disadvantage.

Xbox 360- Because I had a lot of friends at school that had the first xbox and I played multiplayer with them. I also made a lot of good new friends online and we all moved to the 360. Just the experience of playing with good people online and having a crap load of fun was enough of a reason for me to buy it.

Wii- A great system to have when you have friends and family over, and since it was affordable I just picked it up.

PSP- I know its not a console, but Ill just mention it. I got it as a present when it first came out, but still play it to this day. It is good to have when you're at work/school/traveling, and the different "things" you can do with it is awesome. Disgaea, crisis core and fft are great games that I enjoy.

Nintendo DS- Hoping to pick one up later

PS3- Dont really see myself getting one anytime soon. There's still not much out to get my attention.

You should of changed the topic to "what gaming system do you have and why..." lol.

They should develop PSPs that transform into Terminators to combat the pirates!!! If all else fails, send in the ninjas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They could defend Sony, just not the game companies since they're buying PSPs (Sony), but not the games. But I still say we send in the ninjas.
