@sidzero @RenatusUpborne Actually to be fair I haven't played EVE in years because I haven't had the money to pay for a computer good enough to play it(college). But I believe in one thing. if a game company in this world of horrible game companies, does something right, then they deserve all the praise they can get for it. Conversely its the same reason why I cite the horrible game known as world of warcraft all the time.
@sidzero @RenatusUpborne You haven't heard anything good from them in the past few years? What did you completely miss out on the Grand Masquerade? Or V20?
The point I was making with them being the one true hope is the fact that they unlike other game companies know what they're doing, but aren't afraid to step outside the box that most game companies are confined to.
Eve online is a game that has been running for 10 years, 500,000 players, on a single server, with consistent player base growth year after year. The economy is entirely player run, the sandbox galaxy consisting of 5000 star systems is free for any player to take complete control of(though it's pretty much impossible with all the competition other players provide). They had to hire a doctorate of economics to monitor the economy. Every single one of those statements is something that no other game, not even WoW can lay claim to.
Now as for your personal experience with it, I understand what you're saying, eve online has a mythically steep learning curve that if you Google search you'll find plenty of funny pictures of. It's not for everyone, but that's the point. You don't end up with some bureaucratic mess of a game design that tries to please everyone(aka WoW), you instead get a perfect game for it's target audience. So now imagine your target audience is the same audience that WoD appeases...well then you'll have the perfect WoD game
@Michael83917 @RenatusUpborne @Arcturuss @EvilTyger @CommodoreRaslin Based on actually watching the 2012 EVE fanfest presentation where the guy in charge directly said in no uncertain terms that this is oWOD.
@xanthan1 @floydshayvious First off, in the World of Darkness, humans are quite viable. This isn't Dungeons and Dragons, your goal isn't to make a character and team up with other races to fight your way through a dungeon. This is a game of secrecy, of deception, of the masquerade. Social behavior is just as important if not more so than combat. The supernatural races know they must keep their existence secret, for if they do not, and humanity discovers the darker truths of the world, the vampires know that humans united against such a common evil foe, would be unstoppable.
Plus they have said that everyone will start as human.
@veyeper @Sudieken because unlike duke nukem this is based on a 20 year old tabletop rpg that has been running strong the whole time. We World of Darkness players have long dreamed that someday such a game would be possible, we are more than willing to wait a few more years.
@megakick I suppose that would be true, if this was another boring WOW clone... this isn't this is a sandbox game, like EVE Online, EVE online being in a class all it's own. The mechanics will be of course based on the World of Darkness tabletop rpg, a time tested 20 year old game setting.
