@oo7superdave Thank you. Everybody is completely missing the point; Nintendo is trying to link directly to its fans and consumers instead of waiting for one point in the year where it can reveal all fo its new games. This creates excitement/interest throughout the year rather than a single spike in the middle with a slow decline until release dates.

@songoku0206 @Rennar True, but gaming news sites usually report all of the new announcements from Nintendo direct, so you don't necessarilly have to watch them. And casual players generally don't watch E3; my roommate is a moderately "hardcore" gamer (i.e. he plays alot and is pretty investing in his games) and he's never seen an E3.

@Imperiacommando @Rennar Yah, I'm not arguing that. An e3 press conference would get much more coverage and introduce Nintendo games to people who aren't actively following them. I'm just sayig that this isn't necessarily the end for nintendo, and that the argument that they have no games to release/announce is competely rediculous.

@SurlyPotato @Rennar I enjoy them. It doesn't seem much different from a press conference...what do you find disagreeable about them?

@luqmanr @jd7904 Well the thing with mario is that the genuinely try to reinvent it for each console (I'm not talking about super mario bors; just super mario). Super Mario Galaxy was completely different from Super Mario Sunshine, which was completely different from Super Mario 64. Even when there were two super mario galaxies in a row, they were some of the mosr critically acclaimed games of this generation! You don't have to get every single mario game, anyways. Just wait until the really good ones come out. Although I deffinitely agree that they need to work on third party support...The last good third party games I played on a nintendo consile were back in the days of the gamecube.

@ewjiml Pikmin's coming out on august 4th, wonderful 101 will probably come out in the fall. I don't really care about Rayman, so I haven't been following it.

Does everyone seriously not get that they're just replacing their E3 conference with Nintendo Direct? They're going to reveal smaler groups of games over a longer interval. It's essentially the same thing as e3, but spread out instead of all at once. They wouldn't have shown games like Project X, the new 3ds Zelda, Windwaker HD, Yoshi's Island, yarn yoshi, etc. over the past few months until E3 if they were planning on going. Trust me, we'll be seeing some fantastic offerings from Nintendo over the next few months. Not to say that this decision doesn't surprise me; I didn't see it coming. But it's not that shocking and it's certainly not a death knell for Nintendo either. It's just a different strategy.

@Shanks_D_Chop Do you really think it's out of laziness? It so somebody has a shot of putting something they created in a fantastic game and then show there friends. "Hey, I made that!"

@telaros What offensive take on religion? The game basically said "insane radicals are bad" and that's about it...
