Here's how I manage to get by on $30 a month with an AT&T Go Phone:

1) I got the AT&T Fusion from Walmart.

2) I opted for the $25 a month plan that gets you 250 minutes a month

3) I pay $5 a month for their 50mb data plan.

HERE ARE THE 2 IMPORTANT PARTS:

4) I have Wifi at home, and 90% of the time, i'm at home, since I work at home. So I seldom need to use my data plan, except for the few times a week when I do go out. 50mb is plenty for that.

5) I installed Groove IP (I'd alread signed up for a Google Voice account, which is linked to my phone number). In conjunction with Google gvoice, Groove IP lets you use Google Voice to make all phone calls. Again, since I'm at home most of the time, I'm using my wife, so 90% of my calls are made via wifi and the Groove IP app, and NOT through AT&T. As a result, 250 minutes a month is plenty.

I've mentioned on several occasions that this is the problem with launching during the holiday season. I'd say if they launch before Christmas, only a tiny percentage of those of us here on this board will get it unless we pay scalper prices.

A similar announcement was made for the DSi in September, and it was released in the U.S. in March. A similar announcement was made for the XL in September, and it was released in the U.S. in March. However, a similar announcement was made in September for the Wii, and it was released before the holidays.

Not exactly true. The biggest screen on the 3DS will be about the size of the DSi screen, with the smaller screen considerably smaller.

Apparently I'm the only one who can't make heads or tails out of what that press release says.

This is incorrect and clearly written by someone who does not own one. The size of the XL's screens was intentionally increased only to the point to where the resolution is not noticeably blurred.

Not blurry, just chunky. And my girlfriend has one - I just have a regular DSi. I do most of my gaming on the small DSi because the larger screens bother me. The DSi is already a nice improvement over the Lite's screens, making them bigger again is overkill.

No, actually it's not overkill.

DSi. The XL's screens are too big for its own good - unless you have horrible vision and play without your glasses, the mesh between the pixels is ridiculously large. Unlike something like the iPhone 4, which has incredibly packed pixel density, the XL has half a dozen pixels per inch. That does most DS games no favours. The DSi is also more portable as a result. Its only downside in comparison is a lower battery life.DJ_Lae

There are a couple of other differences. As I see it, the complete list of differences is:

Significantly larger screens

Better sound because of how they've reconfigured the position of the speakers

Color and finish that are more mature / not as kiddie-looking

Two styluses, one of them pen-sized

Three games / apps pre-installed

Better battery life

Buttons that are easier to clicki

The XL case is still small enough that it fits in my pants pocket just fine. About the dimensions of a check book (but thicker, of course)

I don't get the portability thing...its not _that_ much bigger imo the bigger screens are completely worth it and I would get an XL any day over the smaller dsifer-

Agreed. Mine fits in every pocket in every pair of pants I own.
