Gamestop here theres like 30 and 40 year olds always playing their DS's.

Also, I play mine a lot every now and then.

martinX3X

not to bash, as i'm sure and aware that there are many perfectly normal employees working for Gamestop. but Gamestop does tend to have some oddballs working for them lol.

SO TRUE ^^^^ (hahaha you noticed too)

Really? What makes them odd?

Actually Darth, I do find it significant that they're lowering the price in Japan and, like you, I fully expect that eventually, the reduction will hit us here in the States. If you look back, you'll see that my original prediction for the 3DS was $259. When I heard of the price reduction, I scaled back my prediction to $229. But you're right, if there is one compelling argument that suggests maybe a $200 price point for the 3DS, it is the fact of that impending price cut. But I guess, to me, it's just hard to believe that Nintendo is willing to say that the 3DS is only $10 better than the XL was when it was first released. That's the sole reason I'm holding onto the $229 projection.

Let's just say I'm not NEARLY as convinced that you're wrong about the price as I am that you're wrong about when it's released. :)

[QUOTE="Cruse34"]

[QUOTE="CyberKlown28"]I think 200 is realistic ._.darth-pyschosis

your in dreamland then. Say hi to Kirby for me 8)

You think some old ARM CPUs, old GPU, one single 3D low res screen, one non-multi-touch low res screen, wireless B/G, probably small amount of memory, and a tilt sensor is going make it more than $200?

The 3DS is already using old, outdated tech just like the DS. This is Nintendo. It won't be over $199.

Also, it could be $200 in EU and JP, since the XL is getting (or has got) a price cut.

Besides, the XL is like the Micro of this gen. It really has no say in the 3DS price matter. the DSi is the main selling DS platform now, and haven't XL sales been sluggish everywhere but Japan? I mean, (and i literally don't know so anyone with info plz post it) does the XL even outsell the Lite or DSi?

The DSi XL topped the video-game bestseller list in May with an amazing 383,000 units sold in one month. In June, ALL DS sales were down, including for the Lite and regular DSi.......and this website is probably correct in saying that word of the 3DS is what did that.....not the relative merits of the XL or any other DS. http://www.playswitch.com/Articles/1bb4dd18-bcfa-4f41-a274-ec1bdf6132b9

So the point is that there is no evidence that the $189 price point hurt sales of the XL. I stand by my prediction of $229.

I'm not completely sure I'll be able to see the 3D effect.....although I can sort of see the 3D on those cross-your-eyes Youtube videos. My vision is probably 20/60. Not sure if I can see it or not. It's been a few years since I've been to see a 3D movie. Maybe I'll go see Toy Story 3 to test it.

But even if I can't, I'll probably wind up getting the 3DS for the higher resolution, the movies that they say it will play, and the motion-control features.

I play my DS every day but I only take it with me when I've got a long wait - plane ride, doctor's office, etc. It never matters to me what people think. I figure if you're always worried about what people think about you then you're either (1) very immature or (2) have too much time on your hands. :P

By the way, I'm probably the OLDEST one here - just turned 61. What did I get for my birthday you ask? Video games, of course!

Awesome! I was starting to feel awkward on the boards since I'm 43.

In addition to what others have said, we're ignoring something obvious: Even if this information is dead on the money, it tells us only when it will be released in Europe--not North America.

[QUOTE="NerubianWeaver"]I've been in that situation before; All i see is people doing something with their Iphone. What does Iphone have that DS doesn't :PRheiken
It's a phone and a media player, that's what it has. When you're ready to go to work or the store, you don't grab your wallet, keys, and your DS. You grab your wallet, keys, and phone and/or mp3 player (many people use them in cars while driving). That's probably why.

My DSi XL is a media player, camera, clock, organizer, e-reader, and web browser....pretty much everything that an iPhone is except a phone.

I suspect these studies are measuring different things. The one in Huffington Post was also in Newsweek, and it basically stated that there's no evidence that it causes any physical changes in the brain that will preserve them during old age. However, the link I posted, as someone said, probably indicates that it helps us stay sharp at using what we have. Keeps our memory finetuned, so to speak. I also read another study that said that brain training helps us relax. And yet another study said that video games that force you to focus on multiple things at once might actually help keep the brain "young."

Break out your 'Brain Age' and similar brain-training games, folks. Although some people have expressed skepticism about their benefit, a new British study suggests that at the very least, these games improve the person's math skills and also problem-solving speed. For some reason this STUPID BOARD will not allow me to post a hyperlink, but here's the address:'

I'm rarely out in public....lol

But I assure you, I'm one of the resident old people here, a 40-something guy who uses the XL for games, to learn Spanish, and as an e-book reader.
