I assume you have it patched to 1.1 for the 1st day patch? I think AMD also released new drivers.

Have you even thought of changing them around to test this?

as i said earlier - event viewer only says critical: event id 41 Kernal-power which is why I am more drawn to the psu. and no nothing is over clocked. I can check the ram at one stick at a time but nothing from my past exp is saying to me this is not a ram problem although I can not rule it out and will check it over tomorrow when I have some time to take the thing apart. I have the feeling it is dropping out under heavy load. My HD should not be causing this kind of system reboot but I can switch it out for a smaller one from my media centre and install skyrim again to test that at the same time. Again though I would have thought the same problem would be happening at least some times under games that use more processing/ram if that was the case of a ram/hd problem. :edit: added not in ram problem.....

If it was a short would I not be getting it more often then just during some games? If I am not playing those games I can be fine all day, even leaving my pc on for days at a time with out a shut down.

only some games - I played Batman and rage with no shut downs. Its like the power has been turned off at the wall and then it reboots on its own, the games do not crash. :edit: event viewer only says critical: event id 41 Kernal-power

Hi all, I am looking for a bit of advice on my pc. As the topic title says, my pc is rebooting when playing certain games. At the moment I have been trying to play Skyrim and my pc can be fine for 2 hrs at times or 5 mins other times before it shuts down and reboots by itself. I can play other games like Civ 5 and football manager 11 with out this problem happening so I thought it was probs an over heating problem so I ran some tests with GPU temp and CPU test monitor while playing my GPU gets up around 75- 80c and my CPU around 60-70c with my fans around 40%. I downloaded EVGA precision and increased the fans to 90% and it was still crashing and rebooting at cooler temps. I then downloaded the stress test program OCCT and this got the temp far above the temps in game before I closed it down with no reboot so I am more or less sure its not over heating that is causing the shut down. If it was RAM causing the problem I would have thought I would have the same problem with games that are processing a lot of data such as FM and Civ 5 (Civ 5 is on huge map, FM is running around 50 leagues with a custom data base and I host an online game). I am now down to the PSU causing the problem but wanted to get some 2nd opinions before I go out and get a new one. Rig is set up as: I7 920 @ 2.67ghz Nvidia GTX 260 6 gig ddr3 Coolmaster 850w PSU Win 7 64 bit. Nothing has been OC'd. I have had minor problems like this in the past with games like GTA4 but that was very rare so it wasn't such a problem but Skyrim is doing it several times a day making it unplayable. I can't test the psu as I don't know anyone with a psu the will run my rig or anyone with a rig that would draw the same power. So any thoughts? Any more info needed?
