I had a similar problem with my Fatal1ty X-FI card when I loaded Vista.

I fixed the problem by going to the Creative site and downloading the lastest driver.

Make sure you completely remove the old driver and files, before installing the new driver.

For your situation, you will need to get the latest HD chipset drivers for your mobo/sound chip.

Hope this helps. :)

I mostly do FPS games.

I recently tried Command and Conqure.

First time was against a n00b like me and was an even match as we learned how to set-up the game and some basic stratagies.

Then I got in the middle of an on-line game.

Didn't last more then 5 minutes - I was so overwhelmed, I s8t my pants!!

Earned my respect for RTS gamers - it's not so easy!!

Sorry, I was traveling, and didn't get back to this post till now.

Interesting info here - nVidia has done a really poor job of telling a clear story with thier GPU product line.

I am so confussed over which card to get, that all I have done is not get one!!!

Is there like a chart, in which all the card from nVidia or ATI, are benched marked on one machine with the same base, so you can see each cards benchmark on that base system, and its retail price.

That way you can see how each card compaires to the other cards, and you can pick the performance you want for the price.

I think such a list would really help things out.

I know nVidia and ATI would not want such a list, becasue they couldn't pull a fast one on us like the 8800 Ultra.

So, the EVGA superclocked 8600GTS is 720MHZ with 2ghz memory, XFX 8600 GTS XXX is 730mhz and 2.26Ghz memory, and BFG's 8600GTS OC is 710mhz and 2Ghz memory. All are $230. Should I go with XFX because the better statistics? Or does this not matter?

here is something that might pursuade: http://www.xfxforce.com/web/viewFeature.jspa?featureId=901525
It costs $330 and comes with Call of Duty 2 and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for free.  Now, $100 for that extra ram is a debate, i cant figure out which to get either honestly...
